Her throat tightened as an indescribable feeling brewed in her chest. No one had ever been as unconditionally nice to her like Cayden.
Avery's long lashes fluttered.
She then picked up the globally limited black card. That was a card she had only seen in finance magazines in the past.
The sunlight filtered through the tall windows to illuminate Cayden's perfect side profile, making his features look even more defined than before.
He was flawless, and yet, an ordinary person like her was fortunate enough to receive his love.
“Thank you,” Avery squeezed out, half-choking on her words.
Cayden had given her the most tender company during the most helpless time in her life.
Her father's sudden passing had left her devastated and vulnerable.
No one could have seen that coming, including her, but luckily, Cayden was by her side.
She was glad to have her children with her as well. The two angels were obedient and smart, and most importantly, they were the products of his and her love.
She was unfortunate, but not entirely. As it turned out, the gift from God was not a small one.
As Cayden kissed the corners of Avery's tearful eyes, he tapped the bridge of her nose and said, “Silly, you don't need to thank me. Meeting you has been the luckiest thing in my life. You've lost your father, but you still have me and the children, okay?”
The man's magnetic voice was honey to her ears and magnet to Avery's anxiously wandering heart.
“Mommy, you have me and Zach by your side from now on. We'll never split up!” The cute girl was in a princess pajamas, hugging and rubbing her cheek against Avery's leg as her soft curly hair tickled Avery.
Avery then lifted her petite daughter up and planted a light kiss on her cheek, making the girl giggle. Her crystalline laughs attracted the attention of Zachary, who had just finished washing up.
When he saw his mother carrying his sister, he got a little envious and leaned against the doorframe.
He, too, wanted his mother to hug him, but his father told him that he was a boy, and boys were not supposed to ask for as much attention like his sister did.
Hence, he tried his best not to look at them, but the envy in the boy's eyes could not escape the sharp-eyed Cayden.
When Zachary lowered his head in an attempt to look unfazed, he spotted his father walking toward him.
Softly, Zachary called out, “Daddy...”
Right then, Cayden hunched over and lifted him up.
Zachary blinked in surprise as his jaw dropped dramatically.
Daddy?
Fireworks of joy were exploding in the boy's mind.
Daddy's hugging me! It's not a normal hug. He's hugging me to console me!
Cayden could vaguely catch a whiff of a milky scent coming from the boy as he carried him.
He always felt that girls should be spoiled and boys should be left to their own devices. In fact, Cayden could recall carrying Rory more often than Zachary—his son who became mature at a young age.
At first glance, Cayden would look indifferent as he carried his son, but at the second, one would notice a tender look in his dark eyes.
Despite his gentle actions, Cayden spoke in an apathetic voice, “A child of the Moore family must learn to keep his calm no matter what happens. You can't act so surprised by something minor like this. You disappointed me with your reaction earlier. Do keep this in mind.”
Although Cayden was stern with him, Zachary was overjoyed to lie in his father's arms.
As he fixed his bright eyes on Cayden, he quietly hummed in agreement.
Right then, Avery shot Cayden an unhappy look and said, “He's still a boy. Why are you so strict with him?”
Her voice and her expression of that moment reminded him of the way the two of them were tangled with each other under the sheets the night before.
The image of how Avery bloomed like a flower beneath him emerged in his mind.
Immediately, the blood in Cayden's veins began to boil.
Then, it was his dick's turn to respond as a tent began rising in his pants.
When Zachary's leg knocked against something solid, he curiously looked down before looking up at his father in confusion. “Daddy, did you hide something in your pants? It's poking my leg.”
“Mommy, is that part of Daddy swollen? Let's hurry up and bring Daddy to a doctor! Does Daddy have a tumor like Lillemor's? Does he have to go to the hospital to remove it?” The sweet Rory was on the verge of tears, and the anxiousness she felt could be heard in her youthful voice.
Lillemor was a nanny who used to take care of Rory and Zachary. She took great care of them, and the two children were very close to the elderly woman.
Later on, a large tumor grew on Lillemor's neck, and she had to be hospitalized to remove it.
Rory was terrified that the same thing had happened to her father.
Hearing her, both Cayden and Avery turned speechless.
As a matter of fact, Cayden was pursing his lips.
Are you sure you want me to get rid of something that will make your mommy happy?
Meanwhile, Avery was staring at the swollen part beneath Cayden's pants, her face completely flushed.
We went on for so long last night, but he's now...
At that, Avery gave an exasperated look to Cayden.
Cayden returned a look of innocence to her. What could he possibly do about his member, after all?
He could only say that his woman was simply too charming.
Clearing his throat, Cayden then said, “I'm fine. All I need is a cold shower. Be good, and don't make your mommy mad, okay? I'm going to take a shower now.”
With that, the man put Rory down and headed toward the bathroom, leaving the two children bewildered.
Wanting to get to the bottom of it, Rory asked, “Mommy, can a cold shower reduce the swelling?”
“Your... Your daddy ate too much spicy food yesterday, so he needs a cold shower to counteract the remaining spiciness in him. Rory, Zach, remember not to eat that much spicy food when you grow up, okay?” Avery told them as she tried to divert their attention from her unnaturally blushed face.
Her two darling children answered in unison, “Okay. We're good kids, and we won't eat that much spicy food.
Avery chuckled awkwardly, feeling like a bad mother who was teaching her children the wrong things.
After that, she persuaded the two children to the living room to read storybooks for a while. Once the two children were gone, she finally began preparing breakfast for the family.
Nevertheless, Avery's good mood soon dissipated when she thought about her father's passing and the haughty Henrietta and her daughter.
Regardless of anything, Avery was not going to let the evil, ungrateful mother-and-daughter duo go this time.
