The CEO Gets What He Wants novel Chapter 269

Allie sighed deeply. As it was not a good idea for her to lose her temper in front of her grandchildren, she said, “My dears, don't let yourself be fooled by this woman. She's a vixen, and all she does is seduce men. She doesn't possess a kind heart. Be good and come back with Grandma. Your great-grandpa misses you a lot...”

Avery felt as if her heart was being stabbed multiple times. Allie was trying to manipulate the children right in front of her.

Just as Avery was about to open her mouth, Zachary suddenly turned around.

“Grandma, you've gotten prettier since the last time I saw you. You shouldn't get angry or upset. My teacher said that getting upset would make a person grow older. I want you to always stay pretty, Grandma.” Rory used her little fists to massage Allie's leg in an attempt to butter her up. Her words were so sweet that they managed to make Allie smile.

Seeing how filial her granddaughter was, Allie said in a gentler tone, “You're being so sweet, and you know just how to make me feel better. How many pieces of candy have you had?”

Rory held up her fingers adorably and started counting seriously. “One, two, three... Um, I don't remember. I just know I ate a lot.”

“You cheeky little thing! You know how to make me happy.” Allie kissed her granddaughter's cheek, her smile growing wider.

Zachary took a tangerine from the fruit basket, peeled it, and gave it to Allie. “Here, Grandma. This is a tangerine from Jadeborough. It's very sweet. Try it!”

“Good boy, Zach.” Allie took the tangerine, popped a slice in her mouth, and patted his head. She doted a lot on Zachary, who looked a lot like Cayden.

“Grandma, please don't be angry with Mommy. Rory and I wanted to come here. If you want to scold someone, you can scold us. It's all our fault.” Zachary lowered his little head guiltily, looking as though he had done something wrong and was ready to take any punishment from Allie.

Avery was jolted by his words. The bitterness and anger in her heart seemed to have dissipated.

It turned out that her two children were trying so hard to butter Allie up because they did not want her to feel aggrieved.

At that moment, Avery felt overjoyed, yet sad at the same time.

Allie, on the other hand, tried her best to suppress her anger.

I love my grandchildren to death. How can I bear to scold them? But I still can't bring myself to like Avery.

Suddenly, she lost her appetite for the tangerine. She placed it on the coffee table, took Rory's and Zachary's hands, and headed outside. “This isn't your home. Come back with me to the Moore residence. Your great-grandpa misses you both so much that he can't sleep.”

“Grandma, I don't want to go back to the Moore residence. I want to be with Mommy.” Rory struggled with all her might. It was the first time she had gone against Allie.

Allie had always preferred boys, and she favored Zachary more. The moment Rory behaved defiantly, Allie could no longer control her temper.

She turned toward Rory and screamed at the top of her lungs, “Why are you so disobedient? This is not your home, so what are you staying here for? Do you really want to piss me off? You are going back today no matter what. There is no room for discussion!”

Rory was shocked and aggrieved.

She had always been spoiled, and Allie had never raised her voice at her before.

Fat tears rolled down her cheeks as she sobbed, “You shouted at me, Grandma. I don't like you anymore...”

Allie wanted to do it again but was stopped by Avery.

Avery shielded Rory and glared at Allie. “Ms. Musk, this is my house, and you are not allowed to do whatever you want here. How could you shout at Rory? Get out! You're not welcome here!”

With that, she shoved Allie out the door and slammed it shut.

No matter how much Allie shouted and screamed, Avery refused to open the door. Allie gritted her teeth in fury. With no other choice, she could only stomp away noisily in her heels.

Inside the house, Rory was bawling her eyes out.

Avery brought Rory into her embrace and patted Rory's back. When she saw how shaken Rory was, her hatred toward Allie intensified.

It's fine if her target is just me. But how could she do this to her own granddaughter?

After calming an almost inconsolable Rory down, Avery felt her heart grow all the colder.

If I can't divorce Dylan or if Cayden marries another woman, there's no guarantee that the other women would treat my children as their own. It would not be so bad if their so-called stepmother was kind-hearted. However, if they were anything like Milana and her mother, what would my poor children do?

In the Western Epea branch of Trident Group, the premium conference room was decorated in a traditional Chanaean style.

Even the tables and chairs were made from mahogany wood, which gave off a vintage and elegant vibe.

The senior executives of the Trident Group Western Epean branch had all gathered. They glanced at the man sitting at the head of the table fearfully, not even daring to breathe out loud.

The man sitting at the head of the table was Cayden. He had a well-built physique and handsome features. There was a sharp glint in his eyes, which made him look as if he could look into anyone's mind.

He sat there and tapped his fingers against the table, causing all the senior executives to tense up.

Although the Aplothian man was very young, he had a brilliant mind and was very meticulous. His IQ was close to two hundred. Apart from being well-versed in data analysis, he was also excellent at scheming against others.

That was the reason Regal Garden was able to expand rapidly in just a few years, overtaking competitors and becoming the top restaurant in the industry.

And the gorgeous woman sitting next to him, Wisteria, was not one to be trifled with.

Cayden took a moment to collect himself before opening his mouth. His seductive voice echoed throughout the room. “As the largest restaurant chain in the world, Regal Garden has always had immense market value. Countless media outlets are waiting for the chance to pounce on us. Don't you all think that you should reflect after making such a huge mistake this time? Mr. Steve, Mr. Paul, as the manager and assistant manager of this branch, do you have anything you'd like to say?”

Having been called out, the two Epean men looked anxious.

However, as they had been in a managerial position for a long time, their mental strength was stronger than most, and they composed themselves very quickly.

As the manager of the branch, Paul was the first to reply. “Mr. Moore, this incident happened suddenly, and we were caught off guard. Before we could make any official announcements, the media had already started to publish nonsense. Our competitor, Clos Maggior, must be the one behind this! Clos Maggior wants to be the top restaurant in Epea, but they couldn't overtake Regal Garden. Their boss, Adela, has been dissatisfied with us for a long time. There's no one else besides them. Mr. Moore, Adela is simply despicable for using such an underhanded method to try to smear Regal Garden's name! We mustn't let him off easily or allow Clos Maggior to step all over us!”

Steve, the assistant general manager, however, did not say as much. “Mr. Moore, it was indeed our fault. I sincerely apologize for causing the company to suffer huge losses. I am willing to accept whatever disciplinary action you deem appropriate.” His attitude while admitting his mistakes was rather sincere.

Cayden took a puff of his cigarette indifferently. As he watched the two men's completely different reactions, a cold glint flashed across his dark eyes.
