At the sight of Nina's expression, Aaron cackled maniacally. A trace of devilish malice marred his solemn-looking handsome countenance. “Your expression when you're mad is as vibrant as it was in the past. Why, are you resentful that I didn't satisfy you earlier and that you're looking all frustrated?”
Meanwhile, Nina glowered at him as though she was beholding an old archenemy. Without warning, she spat at him and cursed his ancestors even as she shot daggers at him. “How rotten exactly is the Gibson family from the very core itself that it produced a piece of trash like you even after so many generations of purification?”
Alas, that action of hers angered the hot-tempered man once more.
When Aaron received a call from his best friend, Dylan, asking him to help confine Nina because he wanted to use her to blackmail Avery, he agreed without even thinking about it.
After all, he had been enemies with her ever since young.
Hah! This d*mn woman is still as infuriating as ever, daring to kick me down there. If it weren't for my luck, I would've long since suffered permanent damage. Serves her right that she has now fallen into my hands and has to go through hell!
Stripping her bare, he taunted and leered at her, even threatening to have his subordinates take turns with her if she were to go against him.
He wanted to rip her calm façade off and divest her of her dignity so that she would beg him in her panic.
Unexpectedly, she obstinately held out and would rather be used by his subordinates than allow him to touch her. Ugh! How annoying!
Aaron pinned Nina beneath him, causing her to struggle wildly in resentment.
Tearing off the scraps of remaining clothes on her, he aimed his stiff member right at her opening. Just when he was about to thrust forward, his phone rang all of a sudden.
“Xander.” When Aaron saw that it was a call from his brother, he didn't dare ignore it despite his pent-up desires.
“You can have fun with other women as you like without any interference from me, but release the woman you're confining right now.” Xander sounded as assertive as ever.
“How am I to know who you're speaking of when I've got so many women here, Xander? Besides, I'm already all fired up. Yet, you want me to stop? Do you want me to die from unfulfilled desire?” Aaron drawled airily with a hand grasping his phone, and the other clapped over Nina's mouth.
“Cut the crap! Nina is under Cayden's protection. He personally asked me for her, so it's evident that she holds much weight with him. He isn't someone to be messed with. You'd better watch yourself, for even I might not be able to protect you if you mess up.” On that note, the person on the other end of the line hung up.
Aaron turned and stared at Nina, whose eyes blazed with hatred. At the thought of Cayden, who was as cunning as a fox and whom even his brother didn't dare challenge head-on, he wavered slightly. But still, how could I possibly let her go so easily?
A cold smile bloomed on his face, the ruthless look in his eyes causing one to shudder in terror.
In the next heartbeat, he brutally ravaged the supple body beneath him without hesitation.
“Ahh!” A sharp and agonizing cry reverberated in the room. At the same time, tears of despair trickled down Nina's face.
Meanwhile, Avery had a terrible headache when she woke up.
That aside, she felt hot and cold alternatively, making her very much discomfited.
Worse still, she couldn't breathe freely, and her throat burned painfully. It went without saying that all her symptoms pointed to a severe cold.
She opened her eyes, but the glaring sunlight streaming in through the window almost had her tearing up. Only then did she realize that she forgot to draw the curtains last night.
Through the glass window, she could clearly see the blue sky and also a few birds that occasionally flew past outside.
Seeing that it was already late in the day, she made to get out of bed, only to find herself locked in a man's embrace by a strong arm.
Her back was intimately plastered against Cayden's solid chest, making it difficult for her to even turn over.
A faint flush manifested on her pale face, and her exhalations turned slightly feverish as the memories of last night replayed in her mind. She found herself weak and limp, all the aftereffects of her high fever last night.
Exerting much strength, she pried the man's arm away. But just as she was about to get up, Cayden domineeringly pulled her into his arms again on instinct, bringing her face to face with him.
Avery's gaze fell on the sleeping man. His perfectly sculptured profile had mixed feelings brewing within her.
Verily, I have no idea how things progressed to this stage between us. He always gives me candies after hurting me, but he has no idea that eating too many of them will lead to tooth decay, no matter how exquisite and tempting their external wrappers are. The pain will spread through my whole mouth, causing me to shy away from them thereafter.
While her thoughts ran wild, Cayden slowly opened his eyes and pecked her gently on the lips. “Good morning, Babe.”
Ignoring him, Avery shook his arm off and glanced around in search of something or other.
Cayden propped his head up with his right arm. Out of the blue, a black lace bra appeared in his left hand.
He placed his index finger against the cup of the bra with a wicked smile on his face. “Are you looking for this?”
In a flash, Avery's face flushed bright red.
She wanted to snatch it out of his hand, but she grasped empty air when he pulled his left hand back. He did that repeatedly, teasing her to the point that she panted heavily. In the end, she gave up.
Flipping her over, Cayden forced her to look him in the eye. The moment he noticed that she had gone expressionless from fury, her face flushed bright red, and her lips visibly chapped, his urge to tease her vanished. He promptly got out of bed. “I'll go and pour you a glass of water.”
Avery felt light-headed, her entire being was disoriented. But at the thought of Nina, she asked worriedly, “How's Nina right now? Is she okay?”
Pouring her a glass of warm water, Cayden handed it to her. “She's fine. You can see her today.”
The heavy boulder that had been weighing on Avery's heart lifted at long last. She downed the entire glass of water he handed her before her throat felt slightly better. Then, she forcibly pulled herself together and got dressed. “What time is it now? I've got to go to work.”
“There's no need to go to work when you're so sick! Stay at home obediently today. I'll help you apply for leave.” Cayden pressed her back under the covers.
Recalling how she willfully had herself freezing for half the night yesterday, he couldn't help feeling vexed.
However, he couldn't bring himself to lecture her when she wasn't feeling well then. He could only zip his mouth and give her the cold medicine Yuvan left.
“No, I've been taking time off frequently, causing much dissatisfaction among my colleagues. I—”
“I'll fire whoever dares to express their dissatisfaction!” Pulling the covers over her, Cayden tucked her in. “If you rest today, I'll consider it a medical leave. But if you dare go to the office, I'll fire Nina.”
He wore a smile as he spoke, but he sounded serious. That had Avery both irked and exasperated.
Argh! He's actually blackmailing me with my best friend! When did the high and mighty CEO of Trident Group turn into such a scoundrel?
