The CEO Gets What He Wants novel Chapter 421

The night was dark but particularly charming.

The room next door fell silent after some time.

The commotion next door had aroused Cayden's desire. At first, he paid full attention to cleaning Avery's body, but gradually, he lost his grip on himself.

A faint, elegant fragrance like blooming violets emanated from Avery's body, and the fresh scent kept Cayden spellbound.

Cayden felt his body temperature rising in tandem with the water temperature in the bathtub.

Restlessly, his large palms roamed over Avery's body.

On the other hand, Avery remained composed, though she felt weak. “No. The doctor said we must control ourselves in the first trimester, or it could lead to a miscarriage...”

Since learning about Avery's pregnancy, Cayden had avoided physical intimacy with her for several days now.

Though Cayden could control his urges, his desires often got the best of him whenever he touched Avery.

“I won't hurt you, so don't worry. And I won't harm our baby.” Cayden held Avery tightly, pulling her into his chest.

He gazed into her eyes, which glowed like stars in the night sky, as he grappled with the urge to give in to the temptation.

He tried so hard to resist his desire that beads of sweat began forming on his forehead. Even the veins on his temples throbbed visibly.

Avery could not help but feel sorry for him.

After a short pause, she said, “I-If you really want it, perhaps, I-I can... use other methods...”

Right after that, Avery began to work her magic without looking at the expression on Cayden's face.

Cayden was taken aback by Avery's action. He did not expect that she would help relieve him in such a manner.

The man gazed intently at Avery's blushing cheeks. Her bright eyes reminded him of the starry night they first met as adults.

After an hour of intimate activities, Cayden heaved a sigh of relief while Avery's hands became sore from the exertion.

After tenderly cleaning his body and hers, he carried Avery in his arms, bringing her to the bed.

Pregnant women would often get exhausted easily.

Avery, who was already drowsy, flipped over and dived right into the soft cotton comforter the moment her body touched the bed. In just seconds, she fell into a deep sleep.

Running his warm fingers through her lustrous hair while looking at her peaceful sleeping face, Cayden fell deep in thought.

Despite having already consummated their marriage and even having two lovely children with another one on the way, Cayden still desired to give Avery the most amazing wedding ever.

Initially, he had planned to hold the wedding at the end of the year, but looking at the turn of events, he had no choice but to bring it forward.

Cayden understood every woman wanted to feel beautiful, relished in romantic moments, and dreamed of an unforgettable wedding. Avery was no different.

Hence, having a wedding in May seemed like a good plan, as Avery's pregnancy would not be too noticeable.

Cayden looked forward to the sacred moment when Avery donned the wedding dress for him.

Meanwhile, the morning had broken, but Nicole had barely slept last night.

Flashbacks of yesterday's memories kept playing in her mind, causing her to suffer from physical pain and mental torment that resulted in nightmares. Just as she was about to break down, her phone rang, jolting her awake.

It was the doctor on the line, informing her that the DNA test results were ready for collection at the hospital.

After hanging up, Nicole sat up and drew back the curtains. The searing morning sun that flooded the room nearly brought her to tears.

She glanced at the clock and realized it was only half past seven.

After returning home last night, she tossed and turned, managing to sleep for less than three hours. As she looked down at her bandaged left hand, Nicole's eyes filled with resentment.

The previous night was meant to be a family reunion, yet her foster parents were so preoccupied with accompanying her grandparents at the family house that they forgot about her.

Fury surged inside her.

They would have called me on such an important day had they truly cared about me!

What frustrated Nicole the most was the fact that the man with whom she had her first sexual encounter was not Cayden but rather an uncouth individual who even threatened her after taking advantage of her. The irony of the situation was not lost on her.

For so many years, Nicole had presented herself to the world as the precious daughter of the Lambert family. She had always held herself in high esteem and believed no man was worthy of her love.

Yet, at that point, she had no choice but to offer herself to a despicable scoundrel.

Wearing her pajamas, Nicole descended the stairs and spotted Claire arranging flowers in the living room.

Her brows creased with an indescribable sadness as she gazed upon the elegant woman.

Claire, too, noticed Nicole from a distance and set aside her pruning shears. Speaking softly, she said, “Good morning, Nickie. Your grandfather suffered a heart attack yesterday, and your father and I had to rush over to be with him. We tried calling you to come with us, but your phone was off, and we couldn't get through to you. If you have time today, it would be good to visit your grandfather. He's been asking about you.”

Deep in Nicole's heart, she sneered. That old man asked about me? Please. He just wants me to get out of his way!

Although Nicole did not care about her grandfather, she acted as if she was worried about him. “Okay. Sorry, Mom. My phone ran out of battery yesterday. Is Grandpa all right?”

While speaking, she started helping Claire tidy up the flowers, deliberately revealing her bandaged palm.

“Thank goodness the nanny noticed something was wrong with him. The rescue was timely, so he's out of danger,” Claire uttered.

However, her attention quickly turned to Nicole's wounded hand. “Nickie, what happened to your hand?” she asked with concern, grasping Nicole's wrist.

Nicole, feeling slightly relieved that her mother was finally showing concern, pulled her hand away and attempted to console Claire. “It's nothing, Mom. I hurt my hand during filming. It should be okay after a few days of rest.”

Claire knitted her brows with concern and responded warmly, “Take two weeks off from filming, stay at home, and get some rest. Why didn't you say anything when you got hurt? You're just trying to make me worry, aren’t you?”

Nicole clasped her hands around Claire's arm and spoke sweetly. “It's okay, Mom. I'll be fine in a few days. I'll go call Dad down for breakfast, all right?”

“Okay. Your father is in the study talking with his secretary. Come down right away after you've informed them. Oh, please ask Mr. Lachlan to join us,” Claire said.

“Got it!”

Nicole kissed Claire's cheek and went to the study to call William for breakfast.

When she arrived at the study, she saw the door was slightly ajar.

Right as Nicole was about to knock on the door, a deep male voice suddenly caught her attention. It was Alfred Lachlan, her father's secretary, speaking to her father.

“Mr. Lambert, here's the evidence of Cayden's bribery from eight years ago,” Alfred said.

Nicole was stunned when she heard those words. Her heart raced uncontrollably, and she felt as if she had been struck by lightning.
