Chapter 682 This Man Is Truly Terrifying
Cayden had always enjoyed watching the sunset.
Before taking over Trident Group, he had traveled to many places and witnessed the beauty of countless sunsets.
The majestic Mount Gallem, the boundless Basdows Meadows, the sandy expanses of the Savanna Desert, and so on. They had all been graced by his presence.
The reason he loved watching the sunset so much was that after the sunset, dawn would arrive, bringing with it the hopeful promise of light.
However, the sunset there, compared to other places, was somewhat less impressive.
Furthermore, due to one's suppressed emotions, it felt as if the sunset here was permeated with a desolate light of demise.
Just as Cayden was lost in thought, staring at the setting sun, Cassie appeared.
She watched as Cayden gazed at the distant, tumultuous sea and the sunset on the horizon. She noticed that his hazel eyes held no warmth, seeming to reveal a profound sadness.
“You're daydreaming again,” Cassie said, stepping forward to drape a mid-length coat over Cayden's shoulders.
Yet, Cayden didn't spare her a glance. The man's hazel eyes subtly shimmered with a faint gleam, clear yet carrying a hint of mild displeasure.
Cassie didn't care at all about his cold demeanor.
After more than two years of being together, her understanding of this man, even if not deep, had allowed her to somewhat discern his temperament.
“Your body has just recovered, so you need to rest more in your room. I just saw you sitting by the sea again, catching the breeze. Even though it's not winter, the sea breeze can be quite chilly. Let's head back,” Cassie patiently told Cayden, reaching out to take his arm.
Disgust quickly appeared in Cayden's indifferent gaze.
Aside from Avery, he detested the touch of any other woman.
“Let go.” With a swing of his strong arm, Cayden easily shrugged off Cassie.
The latter didn't care at all as she once again puffed up her chest proudly and moved closer. “Hugh, don't be so heartless. After all, I am your lifesaver and even your fiancée. Besides, we've known each other for more than two years. Don't you feel anything for me after all this time?”
A layer of frost suddenly appeared on Cayden's handsome face.
He immediately got up from the rocks, his back coldly turned to her. “I'm heading back first,” he said, “I haven't finished dealing with the tasks Godfather assigned to me.”
Cassie stared at his retreating figure, seething in silent resentment. He was a man who didn't know how to cherish and appreciate women, yet, infuriatingly, she was drawn to him.
There were so many outstanding men in Eastern Epea, all at her disposal for Cassie to choose from, yet she simply couldn't find one to her liking.
After waiting for so many years, she finally met someone she fancied. However, he always avoided her. Every time she tried to get close to Cayden under various pretexts, he would quickly hide from her.
Two years had passed, yet she hadn't managed to get any closer to his heart. She couldn't even touch him casually.
Cassie had tried to seduce him more than once, even resorting to aphrodisiacs, but the man remained unmoved. He would rather take a cold shower than touch her, leaving Cassie feeling utterly dejected.
Her godfather even berated her as useless, saying she couldn't even handle a man.
Despite all that, she refused to believe that man was devoid of emotions and desires. Conquering him was just a matter of time!
As nighttime arrived, a silence so profound engulfed everything.
Cayden walked into the pitch-black, icy cold room, about to undress and get ready for a shower.
That night, a major operation was set to take place. His outcome, whether he would turn up alive or dead, remained uncertain.
He was going to take a good, long bath, preparing himself for the battle that awaited in the latter half of the night.
Accustomed to the darkness, he didn't particularly enjoy turning on the lights at night.
About ten minutes later, he emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in a white bath towel. In his hand, he held another towel, with which he was drying his damp, black hair.
A faint fragrance permeated the entire room. It was the scent of the shower gel he used.
However, it seemed as though another scent was mingling in the air, a rich and fragrant aroma akin to that of rosemary.
He stealthily approached the large bed, picked up the silenced pistol hidden under the pillow, and with lightning speed, he yanked the person hiding in the wardrobe out into the open.
The barrel of the gun was precisely aimed at the person's temple.
“It's me! Hugh, let go. You're about to break my arm...” Cassie exclaimed in a low, startled voice.
D*mn it. I didn't expect this man to be so alert, and his actions are incredibly swift too.
I can't believe that in just two years, he would improve so rapidly. This man is truly terrifying!
Cayden, with an expressionless face, let go of her arm. “What are you doing sneaking around in my closet?”
Such an annoying woman!
He glared at Cassie, who was only wrapped in a towel, with disgust. How on earth did this d*mned woman manage to get into my room, which is equipped with a high-tech security system? I've just changed the password lock specifically to prevent her from intruding at will.
Cassie looked at her nearly broken wrist and bruised arm. Then, she shifted her gaze at him and said resentfully, “I missed you, so I wanted to come and see you. I planned to surprise you, but I didn't expect you to...”
Truth be told, she intended to share his bed that night, but she never expected this man to treat her so roughly.
She felt that, at this moment, Cayden had merged seamlessly with the darkness of the night, like a spirit from the underworld emitting a gloomy aura.
With darkened eyes, Cayden furrowed as he glanced at Cassie.
He casually switched on the standing lamp, and the room was instantly filled with a faint yellow glow.
The man was clad only in a bath towel, his slender and muscular figure appearing even more enticing under the light. It caused Cassie's heart to race and pound wildly.
Her delicate body pressed against his sturdy figure as she wrapped her arms around his waist like an octopus.
Fortunately, she was quite skilled, which was why she could stick to him so smoothly.
A surge of anger shot straight to Cayden's head. This woman has absolutely no shame. Is she a demon sent to torment me?
“Get lost!” Cayden roared angrily, wanting to throw this clingy woman out forcefully.
“No, I must sleep next to you today,” Cassie insisted, holding him tighter, intoxicated by his pleasant scent.
“Don't push me!” Cayden closed his eyes as he tried his best to remain patient.
Everyone on the island knew that he despised the touch of women, yet this woman kept pushing his limits.
If it weren't for the fact that she once saved his life, he would have secretly dealt with her a long time ago.
“Don't be like that, my dear Hugh. Can't you feel my fiery passion?” Cassie moved even closer to him, her mischievous hands quietly trying to pull off his bath towel, eager to see his fully naked, muscular body.
Truthfully, she had gone to great lengths, exerting tremendous effort to break into his private bedroom. Therefore, how could she possibly give up this opportunity to foster a romantic relationship with him?
A murderous aura enveloped Cayden's entire being.
He could bear it no longer. With a swift wave of his hand, he struck Cassie's neck rapidly. As the woman passed out, he casually tossed her onto a bed nearby.
In the past, he would never have allowed this woman to taint his bed.
However, he decided he wouldn't be staying in this godforsaken place as he would make his escape that night!
