Miguel didn’t dare leave his office for even a second, afraid he might miss Andrew’s call. When Sheila called, he immediately hung up 

Not wanting her to overthink it, he quickly sent a message on WhatsApp from his computer. “Waiting for an important call. Be good. I’ll contact you later.” 

on the other end, Sheila stared at her swollen ankle, her eyes reddening. 

Miguel had been distant tor days.
