Chapter 1001
At this moment, her stomach growled as if to remind her that she had missed mealtime.
“Are you hungry? I could have the cooks in the house start preparing the meal. If we head back now, the food will be ready by the time we arrive at the mansion.” After saying that, Callum called the housekeepers in the White residence and told them what they wanted to eat for dinner. Then, he took Lillian’s hand and walked out of the office.
Instead of going to the main entrance as usual, they went in the direction of the side door. Even so, there were a lot of journalists waiting outside the side door. Fortunately, Callum had arranged for lots of security guards to be stationed there in advance.
Although the journalists kept trying to squeeze in, they couldn’t get close to Callum and Lillian at all. The journalists kept asking various questions as Callum walked forward while shielding Lillian with his
arms.
Suddenly, a question came out of the mouth of a female journalist. “Mr. Callum, Ms. Quinn was your girlfriend five years ago. Are you refusing to say anything because you felt guilty and wanted to make it up to her? Even if she lied to you, are you still going to defend her in public and help her cover up her schemes?”
Callum paused for a moment and glanced at the female journalist coldly. The journalist shrank subconsciously, feeling as though there was nothing she could hide from his gaze.
It was as though he could see right through her.
“Well? Am I right?” the female journalist pressed on.
As if all the noise around her had nothing to do with her, Lillian grabbed Callum’s right hand tightly with her lips pursed and her head down.
Only Callum knew how nervous and flustered she was. His fingers were starting to hurt from her pulling, and her body was so tense that her palms got drenched in cold sweat.
It pained him to see her like this. In the past, he couldn’t protect her, so he could only watch her get hurt. But now, he was perfectly capable of doing so.
Over the years, he had been trying to be strong and planned his moves. What he wanted to achieve was simply to become capable of protecting her in the future.
“Allow me to make it clear that the baby in Lillian’s tummy is my child. In the future, this baby will be the heir of the White family regardless of the gender!” said Callum.
There was an uproar around them.
If Callum only acknowledged the child, then it was possible that he was feeling guilty and wanted to make up for it. But if he let the child inherit everything of the White family, then there could only be one possibility.
That was, the baby in Lillian’s tummy truly belonged to Callum.
After all, no man would hand his entire family’s property over to a child who was not related to him by blood.
Besides, Callum was still young, so it was the optimum age for men to have children. If he wanted to have a child, there were many women out there who would willingly bear his children, so there was no need to hand his family’s property over to an unrelated child.
As if she couldn’t believe what she had just heard, Lillian looked up and stared at Callum in surprise.
After that, Callum said nothing further and got into the car with Lillian.
The closed-door isolated all the noise outside, and the car slowly drove away.
Lillian was still staring at Callum in a daze, and she couldn’t come back to her senses.
“What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like this?” Callum’s voice sounded in her ear.
Lillian suddenly came back to her senses. “Actually, you didn’t have to say that in order to stop those journalists from talking like that. The heir of the White family… This is so…” Lillian suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
Callum smiled slightly. “If your child is not the heir of the White family, who do you want the child to be?”
Lillian could barely breathe as she listened to Callum continue, “Lillian, you will be the only mother of child in this life, and the father of your child can only be me. As such, your child will be the heir of the White family in the future, and this will never change.”

Lillian’s eyes teared up on the spot. Although he always refused to admit that he had forgiven her, his actions were always telling her how much he loved her and that they would always be together.
“Callum, falling in love with you is really a beautiful thing,” Lillian said.
Hearing this, Callum raised his hand and gently wiped the tears off the corners of Lillian’s eyes. “There, there… All you have to do is stay in the house for the next few days without worrying about a thing. I will take care of everything.”
“Okay.” Her eyes were full of trust in him. After a while, she said, “But I don’t understand why Jerick would want to do this. In fact, he didn’t really like me. He had some favorable feelings for me at best, but… Well, I think it’s more like a good feeling between friends.”
