The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 1028

Chapter 1028

Nadine greeted them politely. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Leighton and Ms. Haab.” Her juvenile voice and cute countenance rendered her beyond adorable.

However, her voice was nasal. Thus, Rosalie asked, “Did Nadine catch a cold?”

“Yes, she caught a cold, so I brought her to the hospital for a checkup. What about you both?” Lucas asked

in return.

“Aiden’s cochlear implants got lost. We came to the hospital today to get new ones,” Rosalie answered. Beside her, Amelia noticed that Nadine’s hair was a little messy, so she crouched and said to the little girl, “Shall I help you tie your hair again? Otherwise, it’s going to fall out.”

Nadine blinked before nodding, comfortable with her, though she was a stranger.

Hence, Amelia took out a small comb from her bag and helped Nadine comb her hair.

Looking at Lucas, Rosalie said, “Congratulations on your marriage. Your child is even all grown up. Regretfully, we didn’t get to attend your wedding back then.”

Lucas was one of the few who did not regard her scornfully when she was at a low point in her life and even helped her. Thus, Rosalie had always been grateful to him.

Unexpectedly, Lucas smiled bitterly at her words. “My ex-wife and I are divorced.” He clearly didn’t want his daughter to hear it, for he deliberately lowered his voice.

“Sorry.” Rosalie murmured, a little embarrassed.

Lucas flashed her a faint smile. “It’s okay. Since we’re unsuited, it’s better to separate than to force ourselves to stay together. It’s better for the child than living in a home where her parents quarrel all day.” Just then, Amelia had already combed Nadine’s hair and braided it. Nadine skipped over to Lucas and asked, “Is it nice, Daddy?”

Lucas looked at his daughter’s neatly combed braid. It was indeed much better than his handiwork. Unknowingly, a trace of guilt flashed in his eyes.

Although he worked hard to be both her father and mother after the divorce, there were some things he could not do well when he was a man raising a daughter.

“Yes,” Lucas complimented. Then, he said to Amelia, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” Amelia replied with a smile.

At that precise moment, Aiden walked out of the consulting room at the side. Upon seeing Lucas, he shrieked in delight, “Mr. Graham!”

Aiden didn’t forget that Lucas took him to the amusement park when he was young and gifted him many toys. But later, they moved houses and had less contact before gradually losing touch.

Staring at him, Lucas couldn’t help but lament, “You are already all grown up!” Then, he turned to his daughter and said, “This is Aiden, whom I told you about. Here, introduce yourself to him.”

“Aiden, I’m Nadine Graham,” Nadine said sweetly. Then, she voluntarily held her arms out at Aiden, clearly asking him to carry her.

Aiden didn’t refuse but scooped Nadine up.

Although Aiden was considered tall for nine years old among children of his age, carrying a three-year-old girl with a height of three feet three inches in such a manner was still difficult for him.

Nonetheless, Aiden carried her seriously and said to her, “Nice to meet you, Nadine.”

“You’re so beautiful, Aiden, even more so than Daddy told me!” Nadine exclaimed, touching Aiden’s face with both hands in curiosity.

Aiden’s appearance was a combination of Amelia and Warren’s best features. Despite his hearing impairment, many girls in school still confessed their love to him or wrote him love letters and the like, a testament to his good looks.

Even Lillian said that Aiden would charm countless ladies when he grew up..

Just then, Nadine touched Aiden’s cochlear implants with her hands. Curious, she wanted to take them

out to see what they were. Beside her, Lucas hurriedly stopped her. “Don’t simply touch Aiden’s cochlear implants, Nadine!”

Nadine was seemingly frightened by her father’s sudden loud shout, her body stiffening in a flash.

But Aiden patted Nadine lightly and explained, “Without these, I wouldn’t be able to hear. So, they can’t be taken out casually.”

“Wouldn’t be able to hear? Without them, you wouldn’t be able to hear, Aiden?” Nadine asked in

confusion.

“Yeah,” Aiden answered.

At once, Nadine seemed even more anxious than Lucas was just now. “Then, you must protect them well. Don’t lose them.”

“Okay.” A smile curved Aiden’s lips.

Before Lucas left with his daughter, he exchanged phone numbers with Rosalie and Amelia and learned that Amelia had opened a small concession stand next to Aiden’s elementary school.

Nadine reluctantly said to Aiden, “Can I go and play with you in the future, Aiden? I will protect your cochlear implants from going missing.”

She knew that Aiden’s cochlear implants were once missing,.so she was exceedingly worried about them.

Aiden’s alluring eyes were fixed on Nadine. He mused, “This three-year-old girl wants to… protect my cochlear implants?”

“Okay, let’s play together in the future,” Aiden agreed in a whisper.
