The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 1031

Chapter 1031

When the weekend arrived, Lucas drove his daughter to pick up Amelia at the concession stand. The two children sat in the back while Amelia sat in the passenger seat.

Throughout the journey, Aiden took care of Nadine like an adult. The little girl sat in a child safety seat and kept talking to him about things such as the cartoons she had watched recently, her drawings, and how long before she could go to kindergarten.

“Is kindergarten fun, Aido?” Nadine asked.

Aiden’s eyes darkened. He did not have a good impression of kindergarten. At that time, his mother’s case had not yet been turned over, and there was a period where the kindergarten kids and their parents kept mocking and insulting him wantonly.

At that time, he was young and did not understand many things. But now, he had a better understanding of the grievances between adults and the injustice of society.

Even though his mother’s case had already been turned over, his disability would still make him suffer countless strange looks.

Even if he was more outstanding than many ordinary people and could do better, it was useless. To others, he was merely a deaf person.

“Aido?” Nadine called out again.

Aiden smiled gently and replied, “Kindergarten is fun. You can play a lot of games with other children.”

“Can I share a kindergarten with you, Aido?” Nadine asked.

“I’m already attending elementary school. You can only attend it after graduating from kindergarten.” Aiden began to explain to Nadine what kindergarten and elementary school was.

The car arrived at the amusement park. After Lucas parked his car, the group of four entered the amusement park.

Aiden held Nadine’s hand the entire way, taking care of her like an elder brother toward his younger sister. Seeing this, Lucas could not help but exclaim, “Aiden has truly grown up.”

Amelia took a lot of photos of Aiden. She could tell her son was having a

great time playing with Nadine. For some games that Nadine was not permitted to play due to height restrictions, Aiden would not play them and only played those she was allowed to.

In the amusement park, there was an indoor play area. Only children could enter, not their parents. Nadine wanted to go in and play, so Amelia told her son to take good care of her while she and Lucas watched the two children play at the table outside the play area.

“Thank you for coming to the amusement park with me and Nadine today. Nadine had a great time. She hasn’t been this happy in a long time since her mother and I divorced,” Lucas said.

Amelia hesitated momentarily before saying, “If there was any misunderstanding in your marriage, why not…”

“There was no misunderstanding. I caught her sleeping with my buddy, and when I questioned her, she said she wanted to be with him. The life with me wasn’t what she wanted, and she also didn’t want her daughter,” Lucas said bitterly.

These things had always been buried in his heart. Even after the divorce, he only stated that they had irreconcilable differences. He did not even tell his parents the truth, wanting to leave some dignity for his daughter.

He did not want this to be a trauma for his daughter in the future.

But now, he told Amelia the matter he had kept within him. Perhaps it was too hard for him, so he wanted to find someone to talk to.

Amelia was stunned for a moment and asked subconsciously, “Buddy? Could it be your business partner…?”

“Yes. So, I later left and started my own business because I couldn’t face them anymore,” Lucas said.

“That kind of person is never your buddy. Real buddies won’t do that kind of thing. Look at it this way. At least you’ve seen some people’s true colors.” Amelia comforted him.

“Yes. At least I’ve seen some people’s true colors,” Lucas murmured. He then asked Amelia, “How about you? How have things been with Aiden’s father these years? How could he let you open such a small concession stand?”

He knew that Aiden’s father was Warren, the wealthy head of York Group. Back then, he also knew that Warren donated his liver to her.

He used to believe that Amelia should have been having a luxurious life with Warren all these years, but now it appeared that she was merely scraping by with a concession stand.

“I’m me, and he’s him. I’m quite satisfied carning my living by relying on a concession stand,” Amelia said indifferently.

Lucas hurriedly said, “I’m sorry. I’m just a little curious, that’s all. I…”

“It’s fine,” Amelia said. “Aiden’s father and I have always belonged to different worlds. Perhaps it would be best we never see each other for the rest of our lives.”

Just then, there was a sudden commotion in the play area. Several boys younger than Aiden had surrounded him and Nadine, shouting, “Wow! Turns out he’s deaf! He’s deaf! I know what this is. It’s a cochlear implant and only deaf people wear it!”

“Wow! Is this girl also deaf? Where’s her hearing aid?”

While saying that, a little boy wanted to look for a hearing aid in Nadine’s

ear.

Aiden grabbed his hand and said, “Don’t touch her!”
