The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 1035

Chapter 1035

Warren furrowed his brow even deeper, and he sneered coldly. “Why? Do you want to be together with her?”

Lucas answered, “Mr. York, whether I want to or not has nothing to do with you. I’m single now, and she is as well. It is entirely our own affair whether we choose to be together or not.”

Warren’s face changed slightly. Amelia had previously said something similar, stating that it was entirely their affair whether she decided to be with Lucas or not.

At that moment, he felt like he was an outsider to their world.

Warren abruptly stood up and grabbed Lucas’ collar. “I’m telling you! Don’t even think about getting together with Amelia!”

“Is it because you love her?” Lucas asked.

Warren had a cold expression and remained silent.

“Why do you let her live such a difficult life if you love her? She is running a small shop and even has to take care of her elderly mother and a young child. Don’t you know how hard it is for a woman to live like that?” Lucas remarked.

Warren’s expression grew even darker, and his grip on the collar grew increasingly tight.

Warren could not possibly be unaware of what Lucas was saying, but…

“Someone else will surely take notice of a remarkable woman like Amelia in the future even if it’s not me. Do you truly intend to find every single one and have a ‘chat’ with them?” Lucas continued.

Suddenly, Warren pushed Lucas away. “What do you know? You don’t understand anything at all!”

Lucas, in a disheveled manner, knocked over the chair and plummeted to the ground.

Staggering, he stood up and looked at him calmly. “I may not understand, but at least I know that if that woman is the one I love, I should make her happy.”

After saying that, Lucas straightened up his clothes. “Mr. York, I think I

understand the purpose of your visit today. I’m sure you also understand my stance. What happens between Amelia and me in the future is our business, and it doesn’t require your permission.”

After saying that, Lucas walked out of the private room.

He knew that Warren was an affluent son from a prominent family, whereas he was just a humble stall owner. If Warren truly wanted to deal with him, he might not even be able to resist.

Perhaps, Lucas should have immediately distanced himself from Amelia at that moment, making certain that there would be no further contact between them. It would have been the most logical means of self-preservation.

However, Lucas still said those words, maybe because he did not want to continue being a coward anymore. When his ex-wife had an affair with somebody he considered a close friend, he did not say anything upon witnessing them being affectionate and left helplessly.

That past moment of cowardice had become a shadow in his heart. Lucas felt like a loser even though he was not the one at fault.

Now, he was determined not to let another psychological burden weigh on him. Lucas did not want to look back on that scene in the future and feel like he was not a man.

After school, Aiden, accompanied by Matilda, went to a boxing institution to learn boxing.

The boxing class was also a training institution that Amelia found for her son after learning that he was easily bullied at school. It was to help her son improve his physical fitness and develop some self-defense skills.

Amelia could not provide much for her son, but it was something she could do for him.

Aiden took his training very seriously. He knew that it was difficult for Amelia to pay for his classes, and he also understood that he needed to become stronger to better protect himself, Amelia, and Matilda in the future.

Much to his astonishment, Aiden met a former classmate who had previously bullied him at the boxing training institution.

They had not crossed paths previously because they weren’t in the same class.

But now, several people had surrounded him.

“I was wondering why you looked so familiar. It’s you, Aiden, right? You must be quite pleased with yourself when you forced me to drop out of school, weren’t you?” the other party said, with his eyes oozing with malice.

“Milo, what do you want?” Aiden asked and looked around vigilantly.

It was the place to change clothes. He had trained until late today, so he was also late in going there to change his clothes. Apart from him, it seemed like everyone else here was affiliated with Milo.

Matilda was still waiting for him outside, and there were other adults outside as well. As long as Aiden could make it outside, he would be safe.

Aiden began strategizing in his mind, calculating the positions of the people in front of him and plotting the quickest route for his escape.

“Of course, I’m going to teach you a lesson! Hmph! So what if you have a godmother? I can still beat you to the ground here. What’s the point of a deaf kid like you learning boxing? Even if you learn it, you are still deaf,” the other party stated arrogantly. Then, the other boys around him who were of similar age to him gradually started closing in around Aiden.

Because Milo came from a wealthy family, those boys had frequently benefited greatly from his favors. If they fell short of allowance, food, and drinks, Milo would hand over a few 2 dollars as long as they asked him.

For 9-year-old and 10-year-old kids, a few 2 dollars was a significant amount, and sometimes Milo even gave them over 20 dollars for free.
