The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 1152

Chapter 1152

Warren frowned. “She’s not just some woman. She’s the woman I love the most in my life. I’m the reason why she got kidnapped. I didn’t deal with those despicable people enough. That’s why they targeted Amelia. It’s natural for me to save her.”

“You make it sound so nice!” Lydia hissed. “You almost lost your life to save her. Have you ever thought about me, your own mother? What could I have done if something happened to you? I’ve already lost your father. Do you want to make me lose my only son as well?”

A trace of guilt flashed across Warren’s face. “Mom, I’m sorry.”

“You’re truly under Amelia’s spell. Even if you’ve wronged her, it’s been so many years. You even donated your liver for her. That should be enough, isn’t it?” Lydia said.

“Enough? Both Amelia and Mom said it’s enough, but…” Warren thought as he scoffed bitterly. Then, he continued, “It’s not enough at all, Mom. I love her so much that I feel like it’s not enough even if I did everything. No matter what, I hope you don’t speak ill of her, Mom. I saved her of my own free will. She never asked me to save her. My injuries have nothing to do with her.”

Lydia’s expression darkened further as she watched her son bear all the responsibilities.

“Amelia’s importance in my son’s heart has grown far too much. He’s even willing to sacrifice his own life for her!” Lydia thought and felt only deep worry.

“Mom, just do it for me. Don’t take your anger out on her,” Warren pleaded.

Yet, the more he begged, the deeper Lydia’s heart sunk.

Her son, who had always been proud, never begged for a woman. Now, he was doing it for Amelia’s sake.

“Forget it.” Lydia sighed and said, “I won’t blame her. Don’t worry.”

“That’s good,” Warren said.

“However, those criminals that hurt you so badly must not be forgiven!” Lydia said, “Especially Jasper and Alicia. I want them to rot in jail!”

Lydia’s voice was laced with a trace of ferocity. After all, this was her most important son. Of course, she despised those criminals who heavily injured him and caused her to almost lose her son.

‘Okay. It’s all up to you,” Warren said.

It’s all good as long as Mom doesn’t take it out on Amelia.

Will Amelia give me the answer I want? I hope she agrees. Then, I’ll spend the rest of my life to treat her well,’ he thought.

When Amelia arrived at the hospital, bringing home-cooked food for Warren, she happened to see Lydia in the ward.

Amelia was stunned as she did not expect to see her. However, it made sense once she thought about it. It was reasonable that Lydia would come over after she learned about Warren’s injuries.

Lydia also froze when she saw Amelia bringing food over.

“Hello, Mrs. York,” Amelia greeted nervously.

“Hello, Ms. Haab,” Lydia responded politely without showing any displeasure toward Amelia. “I see you’re here to visit Warren. How kind of you.”

“He got hurt because of me. I… It’s what I should do,” Amelia said.

“However, if you’re busy taking care of your shop, it’s fine if you miss a few visits. Now that I can look after Warren, I will naturally give him the best that I can,” Lydia said.

Her words were like dull nails, and Amelia did not know what to say.

Warren frowned and said, “Mom, of course, I won’t worry about anything with you caring for me, but… I hope Amelia can come to see me more. I’m happy that she’s here.”

Lydia glared at her son and said directly, “I’ll go to the doctor to ask about your condition first, so I’ll leave you two to chat.”

After Lydia left the ward, Amelia finally felt the atmosphere inside the room became less tense.

Warren said, “Don’t mind what my mother said.”

“Your mother just cares about you. Why would I mind it?” Amelia smiled. In her opinion, Lydia’s attitude toward her was pretty well. At least she

did not make things difficult for Amelia.

Amelia put the food on Warren’s bedside table. “Try the oat milk yogurt first. I made it with oat milk. You can think of it as drinking a thicker liquid. It’s also quite filling.”

“Okay.” Warren smiled and accepted the oat milk yogurt from Amelia.

He tasted a faint sweetness as he detected the fragrance of oats.

“It tastes good,” Warren said.

“If you think it’s good, I’ll make more tomorrow,” Amelia offered.

“Isn’t that too tiring? It must’ve required a considerable effort to make this,” he remarked.

“It’s all right. Although the preparation time is quite long, I don’t need to keep an eye on it. I just need to keep track of the time,” Amelia said. “That’s also all I can do for you now.”

He gazed at her deeply. “But this alone has made me very, very happy.”

Amelia met his gaze, and a bitterness spread in her chest.
