The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 1174

Chapter 1174

“I’m… There is no one I love right now I just want to live a peaceful life and raise the two children to adulthood,” she said in a low voice.

“It would be for the best if that were the case,” he said. “I don’t want my children to call another man daddy.”

After Warren finished speaking, he took a step back and returned her phone to her hand.

“Amelia, instead of spending your time with Lucas, you’d better think about how to make me agree to your request. After all, you came to Strico just to beg me, right?” he said.

In response, she bit her red lip and glared at him.

Once Warren had left the room, Amelia slumped over weakly.

She didn’t even know why Warren suddenly broke into this room and talked to her like that.

Was it because he had seen her and Lucas together and was jealous?

If it had been before, that was still a possibility.

But now, he had no feelings for her, so there was no way he would be jealous, right?

Besides, his last sentence was like he was encouraging her to beg him

more.

Amelia was confused.

Meanwhile, after Warren returned to the York residence, Lydia stepped forward and asked, “You’re back. Why are you so late today?”

“I had a business dinner,” Warren replied indifferently.

“There will be a banquet in two days. I want you to come with me,” Lydia said.

Warren raised his hand to massage his temple. He naturally knew that many socialites in the city would be attending the banquet.

Ever since he returned to Lofbury, his mother would introduce some socialites to him from time to time. However, he was just not interested.

“Mom, don’t forget that I am married now. It is inappropriate for me to attend such events,” Warren said.

“You can get a divorce at any time. After all, you two married just for the children’s sake. I think if you really ask for a divorce, Amelia won’t refuse. At most, we’ll give her more compensation,” Lydia answered.

“But I’m not interested in knowing and dating another woman on the premise of getting married before my current marriage is over,” Warren said. “If you just want me to accompany you to the banquet, there’s no problem. But for now, I don’t want you to introduce anyone else to me.”

“You…” Lydia’s face changed. “You’re still thinking about Amelia, aren’t you? I heard that she specifically came here from Strico and stays outside your office every day, waiting for you. Has she come to regret her actions, so she wants to hook up with you again? I thought she was a good woman before for so easily agreeing to break up with you, but now…”

Halfway through her words, Lydia seemed to realize something and abruptly shut up.

Warren narrowed his eyes and stared at his mother. “What? Mom, could it be that you are involved in her breaking up with me?”

“What are you talking about? Why would I be involved in it? Or did that woman say something to you?”

Warren stared at Lydia suspiciously for a moment before finally saying lightly, “I’m tired. I’m going back to my room.”

It was not until Warren went upstairs that Lydia breathed a sigh of relief. The way her son had looked at her just now made her feel guilty.

After Warren returned to his room, the driver sent a message telling him where Lucas was staying.

Warren dialed a number and said to the person on the other end of the phone, “I will send you a message later. Please help me check why this man came to Lofbury and his recent itinerary. In addition, I want you to send someone to follow another person.”

“Got it, Mr. York,” the man replied respectfully.

With that, Warren put down his phone, walked to a secret door in the room, and opened it.

Inside was a room about 100 square feet big.

In the middle of the room was a mannequin dressed in a complete set of white wedding attire, including a veil and heels.

Back then, he had had this wedding dress tailor-made according to Amelia’s measurements.

However, Amelia had never seen this wedding dress before, nor did she even know it existed.

There were many pictures of Amelia hanging on the walls around the room. Some were of her smiling right at the camera, while others were obviously taken secretly.

The main difference was that the photos where she smiled right at the camera were all taken back when they were still dating and in love. At that time, her smiles were bright and gentle, as if there were no troubles.

In the secretly taken photos, however, there seemed to always be a trace of worry between her eyebrows.

Truthfully speaking, he should have emptied out this room.

After all, since he had no feelings for Amelia now, there was no need to keep these photos and the wedding dress in this room.

Yet, he didn’t empty the room. It was as if there was something holding him back from doing so.
