Chapter 1182
“I see, Warren,” Amelia replied calmly. “I won’t show up in front of you or disturb your peace anymore. This’ll be the end for us. I’ll keep my promise this time.”
He stared coldly. His hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into fists.
Only he knew how he had stiffened up and how his blood seemed to freeze after hearing her words.
“The end of us,” he repeated to himself. “This woman says the most hurtful things.”
“Very well. You’d better not forget what you said today!” Warren left the hotel room without looking back.
The rage pulsating in his chest seemed to crush him.
He did not even know why he was so angry.
It was this woman who was messing up his hard-won peace, and now she was about to leave without so much as a backward glance.
Lydia was home when Warren returned to the York residence. She stepped forward as soon as she saw her son. “I have something to discuss with you, Warren.”
“If you want to talk about Amelia, Mom, don’t bother,” Warren said curtly. “She is leaving tomorrow and heading back to Strico.”
Lydia was stunned. “She’s going back to Strico?”
“Where else? Since I won’t agree to her request, isn’t leaving this place and going back to Strico the most natural thing for her to do?”
“Back to Strico…” Lydia murmured before letting out a long sigh of relief. “It’s a good thing, too. She won’t affect you anymore.”
Warren did not respond. He walked toward the stairs.
“Forget about Amelia,” Lydia shouted after him. “You can get any kind of woman you want! I don’t care about the background of any girl you covet. I just hope you would stop being hung up with Amelia.”
Warren froze. “I don’t want to talk about this now, Mom. If I were to do so one day, then I would. If not, then…”

Without finishing his sentence, he went up the stairs.
Lydia’s heart sank.
“If he’s not going to find a girl,” she wondered. “Does that mean my son is going to die alone?”
“How terrible!” Lydia murmured in a choked voice, sinking sadly onto the
couch.
“If he could say such things,” she thought, “it means he hasn’t gotten over her at all!”
Amelia’s high-speed train was scheduled to depart at three in the afternoon, so she left the hotel at noon and met up with Lucas.
“Let me help you with your luggage. You should be careful now that you are pregnant. Take care of yourself when entering the railway station later,” Lucas said.
“Thank you.” Amelia did not refuse his kind intention.
They had lunch at a stall nearby, then took a taxi to the railway station.
Soon, the vehicle ground to a halt at the gate of the train station, and they exited the car. Lucas carried her luggage while Amelia followed him. They looked like a couple.
A black car was parked not far away, and its occupants were staring at Amelia and Lucas exiting the taxi without saying a word.
The atmosphere in the car seemed to compress.
Seated in the driver’s seat, Frederick was terrified. “Ms. Haab is with another man!” he thought. “And Mr. York witnessed it!”
Warren’s thin lips were pressed into a thin line at that moment.
He had wanted to come and see her for the last time before she left.
He convinced himself that his reasons for doing so were to say goodbye or to close a chapter of their lives. Whatever it was, he just wanted to see her.
Before making that decision, he kept telling himself that it was the last time. After that, he would banish her from his heart.
However, such a scene was the last thing he had expected to run into.

“She’s with Lucas,” he thought numbly. “She is going back to Strico with
Lucas.”
An intense jealousy tightened its grip around Warren’s chest where his heart was.
Suddenly, Amelia froze. She happened to be leaning toward Lucas.
Lucas hurriedly caught Amelia. “What happened?” he asked.
“My legs suddenly gave way. Since I became pregnant, they would sometimes lose all their strength,” Amelia said.
“Are you calcium deficient? I heard from doctors that pregnant women are prone to calcium deficiency, and sometimes their legs would give way when they walk,” Lucas explained. “When my ex-wife was pregnant, I paid much attention to her condition.”
“Mmm, I think so. It hasn’t happened before, only recently,” Amelia said.
“Then find a place to sit down for a while. We’re early, anyway.” Lucas continued holding Amelia, worried that she might fall if her legs gave way again.
When they turned around to head to the rest area, however, they saw a figure standing not far from them.
