The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 1194

Chapter 1194

The two sat down. While having dinner, Amelia couldn’t help but ask, “Well… I have a novel… Is it with you?”

“Novel? Do you mean ‘Love You With the Rest of My Life’?” Warren said.

“Yeah…” Amelia answered. “He even remembers the book title, huh?” she mused.

“It’s with me,” he uttered. “But I’m surprised you like such books again. I only remember you liked this kind of book when we were in love.”

Amelia’s face contorted in embarrassment. She, too, didn’t expect that he would take her book away. “It’s just to kill time. I’m pregnant, after all. It’s better to stay away from electronic devices.”

“Is the book interesting?” he asked abruptly.

“Not bad,” she said. She figured the novel should be good since it was on the bestselling list and was published physically, too.

“But don’t you think the two characters in the book are wasting each other’s time? Staying by a vegetative person for 20 years and wasting 20 years of youth, and even though the other party wakes up in the end, they’ve both turned old,” Warren articulated nonchalantly. “Instead of wasting her feelings on a vegetative person, isn’t it more practical to find a new love instead?”

Amelia stared at the man in front of her. “Love is never a commodity. It has nothing to do with practicality. The female lead willingly stayed by the male lead’s side because of love.”

“Really? Willingly? I think the female lead is overwhelmed with guilt instead! It seems like she thinks she’s the cause of why the male lead becomes a vegetable, and that’s why she’s been weighed down by remorse,” he explained.

“It’s not guilt. If it’s because of that, why would she wipe his body so gently every day for 20 years? And why would she roll him around and apply medicine for him? Why would she be willing to do those dirty and tiring tasks herself? If all she feels toward him is guilt, why didn’t she choose the easy way and find him a caregiver?” she retorted.

“The writer probably has the same mentality as you, and that’s why he chooses to pen it into a love story,” answered Warren. “Isn’t it stupid to bet

your life on whether another person will wake up?”

“Do you really think that’s stupid?” Amelia fixed her gaze on the man intently.

“Didn’t this man once bet his life for a chance, too? A chance that I’d forgive him?” she thought. At that time, even though she repeatedly told him that she would never love him again, he still refused to give up.

At first, she assumed he was acting out of regret and guilt.

It was later she realized that he had done that out of love. He was willing to love her with his life.

Sadly, though, the current Warren could never love her like that again…

“Don’t you think it’s stupid?” he countered with a hint of amusement.

Her gaze dimmed. “Maybe… it’s stupid indeed.”

“All right. I’ve brought the book back and will return it to you later. But it’s better not to read such books while you’re pregnant. I’ll buy you some books suitable for prenatal education later on.” After saying that, Warren lowered his head and continued eating.

Amelia looked at Warren for some time before she said, “Do you no longer believe in love?”

Those words slipped out of her mouth out of instinct. Even she didn’t know why she would ask that question.

“This is not the question you should ask.” He raised his eyes and stared at her coldly.

In an instant, her heart suddenly trembled.

“Yeah, I should’ve known better. Some things are no longer like before… she reflected.

Rosalie called Amelia and told her that Alicia’s trial was scheduled for three days later.

“Have you talked it out with Warren?” Rosalie asked. She wanted to ensure that there were no mistakes on the day itself so that Alicia wouldn’t have the chance to catch on.

“Yeah, he agreed to cooperate,” Amelia replied.

“That’s great. I’ll take care of the rest. You two just have to try your best to act like your usual selves on the day itself,” said Rosalie.

“Okay,” Amelia answered.

“I’ll find out about Riley’s whereabouts after the trial three days later. Riley… Riley… I must find Riley no matter what!” she thought to herself.

That night, Amelia looked at Warren and said, “Rosalie says Alicia’s trial is in three days. When the time comes…

“I got it. I will do what I promised you,” he said.

She breathed a sigh of relief.

He glanced at her. “You care so much about Riley because she once helped you in prison?”

“Yes,” she voiced. “It’s easy to have many friends in this world, but how many of them would actually send help in the hour of need?”

“So, you’re willing to endure the humiliation, beg me, and even sacrifice your dignity just for Riley?” he asked.

Amelia’s eyelashes quivered slightly as she lowered her eyes. “Because Riley saved both my life and Aiden’s.”

“So, if I helped you find out the truth back then instead of watching you go to prison unjustly, would you-” Warren stopped speaking abruptly.

He nearly blurted out what he had in his mind. He almost wanted to ask if she would love him deeply and actually forgive him if she found out later that he had deliberately approached her for revenge.

“Forget it. It’s pointless to talk about it now.” Warren turned around and walked into the bedroom.

Amelia smiled bitterly and murmured to herself, “Yeah, it’s pointless to talk about it now.”

Three days later, Alicia’s trial proceeded as scheduled.
