The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145

Lillian was startled. She didn’t expect to hear a man’s voice from the other end of his phone. It even sounded like… “I-Is that you, Jonathan?” she asked stiffly.

The man hummed a response and hung up the phone.

Lillian stared at the phone in her hand and slowly came to her senses. “Rosalie fell asleep, but why is Jonathan the one answering her phone? Don’t tell me he’s lying right beside her now,” she thought.

She murmured to herself, “Besides, where is she staying now if she’s not at the rental home?” Lillian’s eyes turned from her phone to the closed door of the rental home. Was Rosalie staying with Jonathan?

It was quite unbelievable.

Meanwhile, Jonathan put away Rosalie’s phone and carefully carried her sleeping form out of the car.

Fearing that she would catch a cold while he carried her back, he even took off his coat and draped it over her.

The housekeepers were surprised when they saw him carry her all the way to the house. Although they already knew that Rosalie was no ordinary person to be allowed to live in the Youngblood residence, they had never seen Jonathan treat a woman so carefully and gently.

It was like he was holding some rare and precious treasure. He forbade everyone from making any noise the entire journey so as to not wake her up.

Gary, the butler, watched as the Jonathan he had raised fussed over the woman gently. A complicated look flashed across his

eyes.

Back then, when Jonathan’s father had brought Jonathan’s mother back to the Youngblood residence, he had also treated her gently and protected her. But in the end, he lost his life.

Sometimes, when one person pours too much love into another person, it turns into a tragedy.

Gary wondered if Jonathan would be like his father and pour all of his love into Rosalie. After all, Jonathan had never treated a woman like this. Even the young lady from the Hamilton family didn’t receive such treatment from him.

Gary hoped that Jonathan could find himself a romantic partner, but he was afraid that Jonathan would love a woman too much and it would become another tragedy in the future.

Jonathan carried Rosalie back to her bedroom. He opened the door and carefully put her on the bed. Then he helped her take off her shoes and coat.

Her face was covered with dried tears. Even when she was asleep, her eyebrows were still knitted together as if she was still immersed in that sadness.

She was still holding the half-charred photo album tightly. After a while, Jonathan finally took it out of her arms carefully. When he saw her bandaged fingers, his heart ached.

“It’s just an album. Why are you so silly?” he murmured.

Even if this photo album was her mother’s, there was no need to risk her life to get it. If the fire had touched her body, her injuries would be far worse than the ones she had now.

Jonathan gently held her hand and kissed her fingertips, which were tightly wrapped in gauze. “It must huft a lot. I really want to bear the pain for you…”

He whispered gently to her. This was the first time he wanted to bear the pain for someone else.

Jonathan covered Rosalie with the quilt and looked at her sleeping face like he was infatuated.

Rosalie felt as if she fad a long dream. She dreamt of when she was a child, spending time with her mother and other memories that she had almost forgotten.

But gradually, the dream turned to become a nightmare. Her mother miscarried, and her younger brother, who was already fully developed, lay motionless on the ground, his body cold.

No! I w

“No! No! I want my mother and my brother!”

She shouted desperately, only to find that she couldn’t make a sound.

At this moment, a bell suddenly rang as if to pull her out of the nightmare….

Rosalie slowly opened her eyes and heard an elegant voice in her ear. “Are you awake?”

She was still in a trance when a handsome face appeared before her eyes. Jonathan’s bright eyes seemed to be full of unspeakable tenderness,

“Yeah…” She replied dumbfoundedly, still unable to come to her senses.

It was like her dream and reality were intertwined, and she couldn’t get a grip on herself.

“Then you should answer the phone,” Jonathan said and put the phone next to her ear.

Rosalie was still bleary-eyed as a familiar voice sounded from the phone’s speaker. “Rosalie? Rosalie, are you awake?”

Rosalie shuddered and was instantly awake. “Lillian!”

“Yeah, where are you now? Are you with Jonathan? I called you last night, but he answered the phone. The same thing happened when I called you earlier this morning.”

Lillian was about to lose her mind. She never expected that Jonathan would answer Rosalie’s phone twice.
