The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159

“He’s the chairman of White Maple Group and the current head of the White family,” Jonathan said, then looked at Rosalie in slight puzzlement. “Don’t you know who he is? Didn’t Lillian mention him before?”

Rosalie shook her head, certain that she had never once heard the name “Callum White” from her best friend.

However, she knew about White Maple Group. Although it was not a local enterprise, it was a famous logistics company that had partnered with businesses in Strico.

She thought. But why would Lillian have something to do with this Callum guy? Furthermore, in that call earlier, it was said that Callum himself caught her.

Does that mean the person I saw sitting in that Maybach today was actually Callum?

Rosalie initially presumed Lillian was purely kidnapped, but now, things seemed to be different.

“Then… I’ll go find her!” All of a sudden, Rosalie turned around, planning to find her best friend according to the address she had just heard.

“Do you really think you can get in there?” Jonathan questioned indifferently.

Struck dumb, Rosalie halted in her tracks and hesitated for a moment. “Then… I’ll call the cops first and make them take me there.”

“If so, I can guarantee that there’s no chance you’ll get in.” Jonathan smiled gently and walked slowly to Rosalie, looking at her as if she were a clueless child. “Do you know what kind of person Callum is? There are hundreds of ways for him to stop you from seeing your friend.”

Rosalie naturally didn’t know who Callum was, so she could only look at the person in front of her with eager eyes.

Jonathan explained, “At first, Callum was just an illegitimate child of the White family who was abandoned abroad. His father had a truckload of sons, including two legitimate ones. Hence, how do you think an illegitimate child who was originally insignificant like him got to his current position?”

Rosalie’s heart sank. Even though Jonathan’s words were only a few short sentences, she could more or less understand what Callum was like now.

After all, it would be impossible for an illegitimate child without some tricks and skills to come up on top when contesting for family assets.

When Rosalie was a lawyer, she had also heard from her mentor about some lawsuits regarding the division of family assets among the rich. Some of the tricks and dark secrets in them would likely be unimaginable to ordinary people.

Rosalie turned to Jonathan. “Um… Can you help the meet Lillian, then?”

He glanced at her. “Callum won’t kill your friend.”

“I know, but…” Rosalie bit her lip, still deeply concerned. Only when she saw Lillian and figured out why Callum took her friend away like this could she be relieved. “If it were you, you should be able to see Callum and figure out what happened, right?”

She was more than aware of what Jonathan’s name represented in Strico.

“He’s the only person I can plead right now. If he’ll help me, that is… she mused.

The man narrowed his eyes, knowing she was merely begging him like this for Lillian.

It was the same as before. At the entrance of the police station, she had begged him as if she could do anything for Lillian.

His mind flashed with the things Rosalie once said about Lillian. He mused, Just because Lillian always helped her with the case back then?

Is that why she’s pleading me this way for Lillian now? Lillian… must have also once been her last hope. Is it because of that that she refuses to let this matter go?”

“Yes, I carrtake you to meet Callum, but… why should I help you? I’ve already helped you find out where Lillian is and told you that she won’t be in any danger. I’m a businessman, so of course, I will not continuously make disadvantageous trades.” Jonathan stated lowly.

Rosalie bit her lip tightly, her face gradually turning as white as a sheet. She thought, “What can I possibly offer him?

I don’t have any money or assets.

As for what I learned over the years, it’s probably even more useless to him. After all, the lawyers in Youngblood Group are way more experienced than me.

The only thing I have now is my penniless self…

Rosalie lowered her eyes and, without warning, knelt stiffly before Jonathan. “Tin begging you; please take me to meet

Callum. I want to see Lillian with my own eyes.”

His dark eyes fixated on her kneeling figure as astoundment and fury crossed his face.

“Do you know what you’re doing?” Jonathan glared at her, feeling a surge of emotions within him.

He knew very well that she always had her own pride. Even if she were ridiculed by others again, she’d still want to defend that little pride of hers that had practically been stomped on endlessly.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have repeatedly refused him.

“Yet, now, she’s willing to go down on her knees for Lillian… Does this mean that Lillian is more important than her pride?” he wondered.

“I know,” Rosalie answered without hesitation with her head lowered. “As long as you’re willing to take me to see Lillian and guarantee that you can keep her safe, I’ll agree to whatever you ask for.”

This was the only thing she could offer now.

The man scowled at her with a kind of resentment in his eyes that he had never noticed himself.
