The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189

At that moment, Loretta looked at the portrait in a daze, and disbelief filled her eyes.

She thought of when she had previously passed by the studio and wanted to enter for a look, but Calvin had angrily stopped

her.

Therefore, she could not contain her curiosity and pushed open the studio’s door and walked in.

Never could she expect to see a portrait of Rosalie. It was not the grown Rosalie, but when she was a child.

In the portrait, a little girl was carrying a boy on her back. The face of the little girl was exactly that of Rosalie when she was

young.

In particular, the little girl was wearing a floral-print dress. She remembered having seen a similar floral-print dress in Rosalie’s photo album.

“What the hell is going on? Why is it that among the paintings in Calvin’s studio, there’s one of Rosalie? What is the relationship between Calvin and Rosalie?” she wondered.

At that time, there were too many doubts running through Loretta’s mind. Meanwhile, an unparalleled panic rose in her heart. The panic was much stronger than the uneasiness that had engulfed her before.

It was as though all that she had finally gained painstakingly was about to be taken away by Rosalie.

“No. It can’t. I won’t let that happen. Regardless of the kind of relationship Rosalie has with Calvin, I’m Calvin’s girlfriend. In the future, the person marrying into the Gunner family and becoming the lady of the prominent/family can only be me,” she thought.

Rosalie returned to the Youngblood residence. When she reached Jonathan’s bedroom, she hesitated momentarily and finally knocked on the door.

After a while, the door opened. Jonathan was wearing a bathrobe, and his hair was still slightly wet. Obviously, he had just taken a shower.

“Well, good night,” said Rosalie while turning around, wanting to leave.

That was as per his request. When she returned every night, if he was home, she was to bid him good night.

The next moment, he grabbed her hand and pulled her directly into the room. “Are you just going to say good night to me, Rosie?” asked him.

She pursed her lips and looked at him innocently with her almond-shaped eyes. Her countenance obviously indicated that she had come by just to bid him good night.

Jonathan sighed. Suddenly, he bent down to hug Rosalie, buried his face in her shoulder, and sniffed the scent radiating through her. It was a sweet-smelling scent that seemed to confound all of his senses.

“I have missed you so much, Rosie. I’ve been thinking about it all day,” he murmured. His low voice sounded like the most beautiful, resonating music.

Rosalie felt as though her heart was struck by something. There was a numbness, followed by the rush of blood that flowed throughout her entire being.

“Do you miss me, Rosie?” His breath brushed past her neck.

She bit her lips, not knowing how to answer him. The room suddenly became silent.

After a long time, his sigh sounded in her ears. He then slowly straightened up and looked at her with a pair of bewitchingly flirtatious yet helpless eyes, saying, “It’s just you only.”

“Only with her would I yearn for her to miss me. She’s the only one to refuse to answer me. Yet, I can do nothing about her. It appears that in her presence, I’m becoming less and less of myself,” he thought.

“Help me wipe my hair,” he said while handing her the towel in his hand, which he had initially used to dry his wet hair.

Rosalie was stunned momentarily and stared blankly at him as he bent down again and nudged his head before her.

“What’s the matter? Didn’t you often wipe my hair when we were in the rental home, Rosie?” he asked with raised eyebrows while looking at her.

“That was then. It’s totally different now,” Rosalie thought, pursing her lips. Then, she covered his head with the towel and began to dry his wet hair.

The fact that the towel covered his face had made her relax slightly.

At that moment, he was like a well-behaved puppy, at her mercy, drying his hair as she wished. Rosalie had an inexplicable feeling as if she were his dictator, and he was bowing to her in obedience.

Immediately, she caught and laughed at herself, thinking, “Oh my, how can I harbor such thoughts? I’m afraid it’s me who

appears worthless and helpless in front of Jonathan. He can do with me at will, and I’ll not have the strength to fight back. Can it be because of his gentleness at the moment that I have such an illusion?”

After a while, she felt his hair was almost dried and took off the towel, saying, “It’s done.”

His hair was messy and ruffled from her drying. The bangs, which covered his forehead and most of his eyes, made Rosalie feel as if she was seeing the past Jon.

His dark eyes under the bangs were fixedly staring at her. It seemed to have unknowingly attracted one’s entire being, tempting one to have a good look at his entire face.

Seized by a sudden impulse, Rosalie reached out to gently lift Jonathan’s bangs, which covered his eyes, and she could see his eyes more clearly. They were cold and charming yet tinged with a rare coolness, and their beauty left a profound impression on the beholder.
