The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 247

Chapter 247

A trace of embarrassment flashed across Fiona’s face, as Jonathan’s words were like a slap in her face.

Upon seeing this, Sarah was obviously dissatisfied and complained to Rosalie, “Hey, Rosalie. Fiona just said that out of kindness. Why is your boyfriend so full of himself? Even if he’s our guest, are you telling us to treat him like some important people?”

Rosalie just replied faintly, “My boyfriend is afraid of strangers, so he’ll keep some distance from unfamiliar people.”

Sarah and Fiona almost choked on their saliva.

They thought, “Afraid of strangers? This man doesn’t look like he’s afraid of strangers.”

However, when the man’s eyes glanced at them lazily, they could not help but have their hearts pounding like drums as if they were unconsciously intimidated by his gaze.

Sarah pursed her lips and did not say anything more. On the other hand, Fiona took an indirect approach shamelessly, asking Rosalie when she met Jonathan and how they got together, even going as far as to inquire about Jonathan’s identity by asking about his occupation and family background.

All the questions were vaguely averted by Rosalie.

As a result, Fiona found that she did not seem to gather any substantial information after questioning for a long time. However, given Jonathan’s presence in front of her, she could not lose her temper and had no choice but to force a smile while asking Rosalie, “So, what kind of work are you doing now?”

“I’m a delivery rider of a diner,” Rosalie replied generously, not feeling inferior for her career.

However, to Fiona’s ears, the words sounded like Rosalie had hit rock bottom. Thinking back, Rosalie was originally a lawyer, a profession envied by everyone. But now, she was working as a delivery rider, which was not much different from her previous job as a sanitary worker.

“Then, your boyfriend… Uh, didn’t Mr. Thompson help you search for another job?” Fiona asked, glancing at Jonathan, who was sitting beside Rosalie and playing with his girlfriend’s fingers.

Jonathan’s fingers were well-defined and tanned. He had a pair of naturally attractive hands. At this moment, his fingers gently touched Rosalie’s fingers from time to time, rubbing and pinching them. The gestures appeared gentle and intimate, which made Fiona almost wish that the hand he was holding was her own.

“I quite like my current job,” Rosalie replied. After all, Amelia and the other employees in the diner treated her well. What surprised her was that she could meet Aiden.

Aiden was quite nice to her. Whenever he saw Rosalic, he would smile at her and even hug her, showing very close behavior.

Due to Aiden’s ear problem, Rosalie felt even more sympathetic toward Aiden and wanted to take good care of the child.

Rosalie really adored her current working environment. At least in the diner, no one would disdain and discriminate against her just because she had been in prison.

Yet, when Fiona heard Rosalie’s answer, she felt that the man named Jon might also not be capable of having a decent job. Otherwise, no boyfriend would let his girlfriend do deliveries.

Perhaps Jon was just having a good-looking face only.

Just then, Wilma woke up. Rosalie hurried to her grandmother’s room.

Sarah helped Wilma to sit up from the bed. After noticing Rosalie, Wilma had a smile formed on her face. “I see you have come. Come closer to me. Let me have a look at you, Rosie.”

Rosalie’s eyes turned red with tears. She approached the bedside and looked at the elder before her, wanting to say something, but she could not do so, as she felt like crying at the moment.

Wilma raised her hand and caressed Rosalie’s head. “My child, you look like you’re going to cry. What’s wrong? Did someone bully you?”

“Mom, what are you talking about? Rosalie brought her boyfriend here today. We wouldn’t dare to do such a thing to her. We even have to give our respect by calling her boyfriend Mr. Thompson.” Sarah took the chance to be sarcastic.

Wilma turned surprised. “Boyfriend? Rosalie has a boyfriend! Quick! Let me meet him!”

“I’ll call him to come in then.” While speaking, Rosalie stood up and walked out of the room.

Sarah said unhappily, “Mom, what are you happy about? Rosalie’s boyfriend looks like a boy toy. Maybe he’s also a liar!”

In short, she was not willing to see her niece actually find a good boyfriend and outshine Fiona.

“Enough with that. Rosalie’s a cautious child. She won’t get fooled just by a few words. I can judge myself whether her boyfriend is a liar!” Wilma said.

Sarah pursed her lips. When Rosalie brought Jonathan into the room, Wilma looked at Jonathan with a smile on her face. She said, “You’re Rosalie’s boyfriend, right? What’s your name?”

When Rosalie was about to help with the introduction, Jonathan had already replied, “My last name is Thompson. Mrs. Lopez, you can call me Jon.”

Rosalie was slightly stunned by Jonathan’s tone of respect and humility toward elders. At least she could not hear Jonathan talking to others in this way at ordinary times.

“So you’re called Jon. Okay, okay. I’ll call you Jon then.” Wilma smiled and said, “Rosalie’s a good child. She has suffered way too much, so you should treat her well.”

“I will. She’s the only person I’ve ever chosen in my life, and I won’t choose anyone else other than her,” Jonathan said seriously.

Rosalie could not help but blush and gently pulled Jonathan’s sleeve, trying to hint at the man not to talk too straightforwardly.
