The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 269

Chapter 269

“That’s right,” Lucy said in agreement. “This woman is shameless. I don’t know what she did, but she somehow tricked Jonathan. Even now, he probably doesn’t know that she has been in prison before.”

Yvette and Zachary were surprised when they heard that. Zachary was about to say something when Yvette secretly tugged at him and hinted that he shouldn’t say anything.

Rosalie noticed that even more people were looking at her now. Also, many of them heard what Chelsea and the others. said just now. When people looked at her, they had looks of surprise, disdain, and ridicule in their eyes as if they were watching a play.

Rosalie sighed in her heart, thinking, “Looks like I’ll be disgracing Jon at the banquet today. After all, I can’t change the past.”

Rosalie refused to hang around just to be ridiculed, turned around, and tried to leave once again.

But this time, she had just taken a few steps when her body suddenly trembled. Immediately after that, a ripping sound could be heard.

Rosalie turned around and realized that Chelsea had stepped on the hem of her gown in high heels. She could see that a part of her gown was torn. If she hadn’t stopped in time, the whole dress would have been dragged down by the force, and that would embarrass her even more.

Chelsea put on a gleeful smile, and then said insincerely, “Oh, I’m so sorry for accidentally stepping on your gown. You should get it mended. I will pay for the mending fee later. Still, I don’t think you’ll have another chance to wear a gown like this in the future. In fact, even if you mend it, you probably won’t use it again.”

Rosalie simply gave Chelsea a cold look. Chelsea felt a little uneasy being watched like that. She had a feeling that the current situation didn’t make Rosalie embarrassed at all. Instead, she felt like she was the clown here, and Rosalie was the princess.

“Bah! She’s just an ex-prisoner. What sort of princess can she be?” Chelsea said to herself and looked at Rosalie with maliciousness and disdain.

Meanwhile, Jasmine and Lucy were also chuckling at the side. They were obviously mocking Rosalie.

There was a trace of resentment in Zachary’s eyes. He had complained about it countless times, wondering, “Why did Rosalie have to get into that car accident back then? That accident almost got the Xanthos family involved!”

Still, he once loved this woman in the past.

But now, since Yvette was with him, he couldn’t do anything about it.

Just then, a figure appeared in Zachary’s line of sight. If it were in the past, Zachary would feel terrified when she saw the person. But now, somehow, he felt relieved.

Perhaps it was because he had a feeling that this person would be Rosalie’s safest refuge.

“What’s the matter?” When the voice rang out, Rosalie turned around to see that Jonathan had walked over to them. Alan was with him as well.

When Jonathan approached them, he noticed that Chelsea was still stepping on Rosalie’s gown. The hem of the gown had been torn in some places, so he understood what was going on right away. His face darkened immediately,

When she noticed Jonathan’s gloomy face, Chelsea removed her foot in embarrassment. She was about to say something when Jonathan simply waved her away.

She lost her balance, stumbled, and fell on the floor.

Jonathan looked at Rosalie and asked, “What was that just now?”

“Nothing much. I just got mocked a little and had my dress stepped on.” Rosalie said, “Sorry. You brought me here today, but I’m afraid I…”

“No need for apologies,” he interrupted her. “It was my fault for not taking good care of you today and causing you to face things like that.”

He crouched down and tied the torn parts of her gown into a knot so that it wouldn’t drag on the ground. He didn’t want her to trip on it.

When Jonathan crouched down, everyone around him took a sharp breath. No one expected that the famous Mr. Youngblood of Strico would kneel in front of a woman like this.

When Jonathan was done helping Rosalie with her gown, he looked up at her. “Did you get

hurt?”

At that moment, he was kneeling and raising his head while she stood with her head lowered. They were looking into each other’s eyes. For an instant, Rosalie felt as if he were submitting himself at her feet.

“Goodness, what was I thinking?” Rosalie quickly thought to herself. Then, she shook her head and said, “No.”

But at that moment, she was not the only one who had such thoughts. The other people who witnessed this scene all had similar feelings.

They perceived Jonathan as a lofty deity, but now, Jonathan was kneeling in front of a seemingly unimportant woman. It was as if he had put himself in a humble position.
