Chapter 374
“Well, just a cake. My grandma has just passed away. I don’t want to celebrate my birthday. I just want to have a cake with you, Lillian, and Amelia,” Rosalie said.
This would be her first birthday after they had been together.
However, she wanted to mourn for her grandma.
Rosalie wanted to spend the evening with him and his friends rather than have a boisterous birthday celebration.
“Okay.” He nodded. “I’ll order a birthday cake for you.”
“Thank you.” She grinned while checking the time. He needed to get back to work soon. “I’ll return home. I won’t take up your time.”
As she spoke, she picked up her purse and got on her feet.
But before she could take two steps, a pair of arms wrapped around her from behind. She was immediately taken into his
arms.
He could smell the enticing scent on her as his face was buried in it. “Tomorrow… Don’t go to that hospital. I will take you to another hospital to see a doctor about your headache, OK?”
He spoke softly and hoarsely, and his arms encircled her firmly.
Rosalie trembled slightly. After a while, she replied, “Wait for me… If I still have a headache after tomorrow, I will go to the doctor you recommend.”
Jonathan hugged her tightly without saying anything.
“Jon?” She broke the silence with a loud voice.
“Just do as you wish.” He then slowly released her.
Rosalie tilted her head toward Jonathan’s direction. His deep and lovely eyes appeared to have a veneer of loneliness in them, but the next instant, he appeared as sweet as always with a slight smile on his face.
Rosalie had an odd feeling that she was unable to describe. “Well… I’m going home.”
“I’ll ask someone to drive you
home.”
After Rosalie left the CEO’s Office, Jonathan walked back to the coffee table and picked up the remaining apple.
This was the apple she peeled for him despite the fact that the peel was somewhat hollow and that it had already been bitten several times.
“Rosalie, how good it would have been if you agreed to me just now,” Jonathan muttered, eating the apple in his hand.
The apple was still so sweet, but why did he feel bitterness in his mouth?
Amelia took Aiden out of the listening training class with a faint smile on her face.
Aiden’s situation had been improving. Now he could communicate with others. People would scarcely notice his difference from regular kids if they didn’t notice the hearing aid in his ears.
His teachers also mentioned that the frequency of attending classes could be decreased to once a week in a few days.
Amelia was content as long as her son could go on to lead a normal life. Then everything she had gone through would have been worthwhile.
Amelia was taken aback to see that Aiden had abruptly come to a stop in front of the entrance to a sizable mall.
They needed to take a bus to return to the diner. The bus station was 150 feet away from this mall. But before they arrived at the station, he stopped there.
“Why not keep going?” Amelia asked.
Aiden replied, “I want to buy a birthday gift for Rosalie.”
“I have bought it,” Amelia said. Rosalie filled out her personal information during the job interview, so Amelia remembered her birthday.
A few days ago, Aiden happened to see the birthday gift Amelia had bought and inquired about it curiously, so she told her son that it was a surprise for Rosalie, whose birthday would be on the 22nd of this month.
She didn’t expect her son to take Rosalie’s birthday seriously.
Now that Amelia thought about it, Rosalie was thoughtful of Aiden. How could he not take it seriously?
Children were always innocent and straightforward. They were inclined to be close to whoever was nice to them.
“I want to choose a gift for Rosalie,” Aiden said seriously.
Amelia hesitated after hearing this.
Rosalie had been a huge help to Aiden. Aiden couldn’t have benefited from an excellent hearing aid so quickly without such assistance. He had every right to select the gift he wanted for her.
However, there were a lot of people in the mall, and they would waste a lot of time selecting gifts once they did.
Additionally, the risks increased the longer they were outside.
Warren should still stay in Strico these days.
If they ran into Warren… Thinking of this, Amelia couldn’t help trembling.
Despite the fact that she had already given up on Warren, even after all these years, she would still feel hurt whenever she thought of him.
The person she loved the most hurt her the most.
But now, she had to try her best to avoid him!
