The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 416

Chapter 416

Rosalie was ridiculed by colleagues who welcomed her to the new company not long ago. Meanwhile, Elodia was smiling like a winner.

It was what she wanted to see. The more embarrassed Rosalie was, the better she felt.

If it were not for Rosalie, she would not have been dismissed by her original law firm which led to difficulty in finding a job later.

A male colleague could not bear it anymore and said, “What’s come over you guys? Rosalie never said she would treat us to this meal. Since everyone has eaten the meal, let’s split the bill.”

When he said this, the others were also embarrassed to say anything more.

After all, Rosalie never said that. Besides, everyone present was from the same firm, and no one would shamelessly refuse to

pay.

The male colleague calculated the money each of them had to pay. When he approached the waiter to settle the bill, the waiter said, “Someone has already paid for this meal, so there’s no need to pay again.”

“What?” Everyone in the private room was surprised.

Someone had paid the bill that cost around 15,000 dollars.

“Could you have made a mistake? None of us has paid for it,” Elodia said.

dia sajd.

“There’s no mistake.” The waiter smiled and left the private room.

People in the private room looked at each other.

They wondered who paid the bill.

Then, everyone unconsciously focused their gazes on Rosalie, who shakily held her bag and said, “Alright… We’ve settled the bill. Can I go now…”

As she spoke, she staggered out of the private room.

She was more dizzy now, that she could hardly see the road ahead.

Rosalie wondered if Jonathan settled the bill. He was the only one who would pay a bill worth around 15,000 dollars without a word.

She had broken up with him, but she still owed him.

Rosalie smiled bitterly. She had broken up with him and told herself that she could rely on herself in the future, but… she let Jonathan save her again today.

She walked on and did not even know how she got out of Night Sky.

“Um…” She suddenly squatted down and threw up on the roadside.

She had not eaten much tonight, so she had nothing to throw up anymore after a while.

Rosalie felt sick… She was dizzy, and her stomach seemed to be churning. All she could see was the dark night and neon lights.

She wondered if she was drunk.

She eventually figured out that she must be drunk.

She felt like she was walking on air, and Tracy and Wilma’s faces seemed to appear before her.

They were smiling gently at her as if silently telling her to be strong. Even if she was alone, she should live well and stay strong.

“I’ll… stay alive…” she murmured.

It would make her loved ones rest in peace.

Therefore, it did not matter even if she was alone.

It also did not matter even if she had no one to rely on.

“You can rely on me from now on.”

A voice seemed to ring in her ears. “Who was it? Who was talking?” Rosalie wondered.

“Rosie, rely on me more. I want you to rely on me. I want you to rely on me so much that you can’t leave me.

Rosalie wondered who said that. It sounded so sweet yet sad that she wanted to cry.

“I will protect you for the rest of your life. I will never let you suffer any grievances nor let anyone hurt you.”

It was Jon’s voice. It was what he had said to her before.

Rosalie squatted on the ground, thinking all she could hear were the things Jonathan had said to her before.

“Don’t think about these anymore. Stop thinking about it…” she kept telling herself in her head.

Then, there were footsteps again, and they sounded so clear.

Rosalie wondered whose footsteps they were.

A pair of black leather shoes came into view.

She slowly raised her head to see the familiar face.

It was Jonathan’s face… Just like what she saw today in Night Sky.

Rosalie wondered if it was because she was drunk that she not only had an auditory hallucination but also an illusion.

Rosalie struggled to stand and said to the figure in front of her with tears and laughter, “Don’t… show up in front of me anymore.”

It was because she felt more upset when he appeared in front of her. He would upset her when she had already calmed down.

Jonathan gazed at the person in front of him.

She was drunk as her eyes were not as clear as usual. Her cheeks were also flushed. She staggered/as if she would fall to the ground at any moment.

He stepped forward and held her waist with one hand to prevent her from falling to the ground.

However, his action made her wince, as pain flashed across her face.
