The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 528

Chapter 528

“You seem to know Mr. Sabatini very well,” she said.

It was quite surprising that someone like Calvin would be familiar with an old doctor from a small clinic.

“I’ve known Mr. Sabatini for many years. When Fiona and I came down from the mountain in the town, my leg was fractured. Many doctors said there would be sequelae even if it were successfully treated. Then, my mother asked around and found out about Mr. Sabatini, so she took me here to get treated,” Calvin said.

Rosalie was stunned. “You broke your leg?”

“Yes. It took me three months to start walking again,” Calvin replied.

“I can’t believe he was injured so badly at the time! Was it because he fell off the cliff?” Rosalie thought.

She remembered that he seemed unable to walk when she pulled him up from the cliff. Rosalie mumbled something about him being spoiled back then but did not expect it to be because of a fracture.

Even so, he did not say anything about his leg hurting at all. All he did was apologize for being a burden to her when she was carrying him on her back.

With all that in mind, she could not help but ask, “Was your leg hurting badly at the time?”

He glanced at her as he drove. “Are you concerned about me?”

She pursed her lips and kept quiet.

He did not mind her silence. “Yes, it hurt badly. At that time, I thought it was the biggest pain in my life, but then…”.

“What is it?” she asked instinctively.

“Nothing,” he replied indifferently.

He realized later that being unable to find the little girl was a much greater pain for him.

It was like losing something important. He felt as though he would regret it for the rest of his life if he could not find her.

Now, he had found Fiona. However, he felt disappointed that she was too different from what he imagined.

It was probably better if he had not found her.

The car arrived at the door of Levi’s clinic. Rosalie and Calvin got out of the car and walked into the clinic.

Levi was ready for their arrival. He took Rosalie to a treatment room in the clinic and told her, “I will do some orthopedic work for your finger. The process will be a little painful, but I can’t apply anesthesia because it will be difficult for me to determine the scale of the correction if you lose sensation in your finger after applying anesthesia.”

“Okay, then. No problem.” Rosalie nodded and looked at the tools Levi had laid out. There were many needles and blades of various models, making her shudder a little.

Levi glanced at Calvin, who was standing beside him, and asked, “What? You want to stand here and watch?”

“I…” Before Calvin could speak, Rosalie said, “Mr. Gunner, would you please step outside for a moment?”,

Calvin pursed his lips and replied, “Okay. I’ll wait outside.”

Calvin then closed the door after walking out of the treatment room.

Calvin could not help but smile bitterly as he said to himself, “Mr. Gunner… She is still calling me ‘Mr. Gunner, huh? Even though I tried to get close to her, she always kept her distance from me. Does she think I’m not sincere because I’ve had many girlfriends before?”

He still remembered that she had looked down on him for finding a lot of substitutes before. She told him that it would be useless to find that many substitutes if he really missed someone.

As such, he could not help but wonder if he was reaping what he sowed.

He had never desired a woman like her so much that she always appeared in his mind.

He simply could not forget her, even though he tried to do so several times.

In fact, he was even willing to fight Jonathan for her.

Suddenly, a painful moan came out of the treatment room and snapped Calvin out of his train of thought. He immediately stood up and pushed the door open.

In the treatment room, Levi’s acupuncture needle was poking into Rosalie’s hand. At that moment, Calvin felt he could not take his gaze away from Rosalie’s face.

Rosalie closed her eyes and frowned. She bit her lower lip tightly to prevent herself from shouting in pain. The sweat droplets kept trickling down her forehead and down onto her cheek.

Her other hand was clenched into a fist as if trying to suppress the pain.

Calvin knew she was in great pain since Levi had mentioned that the treatment process would be very painful. He feared that the pain would exceed an ordinary person’s tolerance level.

However, she endured it and made no other sounds except for the moan he had previously heard outside.

Calvin had seen women endure pain. When shooting some dramas, there would be plots with such scenarios, and many actresses would also have exquisite performances. Even in reality, some women had tried to attract his attention by doing something deliberately and then acting as if they were enduring pain.”
