Chapter 532
It was as if he feared she would shatter if he hugged her a little tighter.
“I’m sorry…” His voice reached her car. “Rosie, could you let me hold you like this for a while?”
He murmured chokingly, his tone dripping with imploration.
It could even be considered a humble plead.
There was never a time when he begged anyone in such a lowly manner as the lofty scion in the entertainment industry.
Rosalie felt a heavy weight settling on her heart. She remained motionless and quiet in Calvin’s arms.
Calvin embraced Rosalie gingerly as if holding a wonderful dream of the past while his aura overwhelmed her senses. She could even hear his heartbeat.
The hug finally ended after an interminable amount of time had passed.
“Apologies,” Calvin asked for pardon for the second time. “Just now… I was too impulsive and mistook you for someone in my imagination.”
“It’s fine,” Rosalie muttered. She knew who it was that he was implying.
“But it won’t happen again.” He fixed his eyes on her and uttered firmly, “From now on, I won’t mistake you for someone else. You are the one and only Rosalie in this world.”
She was also the only one he loved.
Rosalie stared at him stupefied and saw her face reflected in his inky pupils clearly.
It was as if she was the only existence in his
eyes.
Rosalie trailed after Calvin and successfully entered the venue of the charity banquet. While plenty of renowned celebrities in the entertainment industry were present, no reporters were seen, as those from major news portals and magazines were not granted access and were being blocked outside.
Rosalie was personally escorted by Calvin into the venue and, as such, garnered plenty of attention, especially from those in the entertainment industry.
After all, it was a scion they were talking about. Countless women coveted the spot beside him to no avail.
Many began hypothesizing about who exactly Rosalie was.
On the other hand, Rosalie continued looking around to locate Warren and Irene.
“Don’t worry, it’s still early. Perhaps they haven’t arrived yet. I suppose they’ll be here soon since they’re on the guest list,” Calvin comforted Rosalie when he noticed her anxiety. “Besides, I can take you to them tomorrow even if they don’t show up today.”
“Thank you,” Rosalie said.
“I’m more than happy to help you out in one way or another. I’d then see you more often and talk to you more. With a bit more of such frequent interactions, maybe you might fall for me one day,” he murmured.
“You…” She looked at him in shock and found for the first time that maybe he had invested more of his feelings into her than she thought!
Just then, a familiar voice interrupted Rosalie’s words. “Rosie!”
Rosalie turned around and saw Lillian walking toward her while holding Callum’s arm.
“Lillian, why are you here?” Rosalie looked at her friend in surprise.
“Well, I asked Callum to bring me along when I heard many celebrities would be here.” Lillian laughed drily. She was embarrassed to reveal that she’d done so by drowning Callum with ardent kisses and nibbles, including sleeping with him. Only then did he agree to her request.
Of course, Callum had asked her to swear not to go all starry-eyed when coming across male celebrities and forbade her from approaching them for an autograph or a photograph together before coming here.
She’d reluctantly agreed out of desperation to tag along and settled for merely having a feast for her eyes after some consideration.
Little did she foresee her best friend appearing at the venue, too. “Besides, the one next to her…” Lillian’s mind began spinning as she took in Calvin beside Rosalie.
As a fangirl, there was no question that Lillian knew who Calvin was.
He was none other than the scion of the entertainment industry and the one backing up numerous top celebrities. Even a pig could achieve fame and fortune if only he willed it to be.
“Rosalie, fancy seeing you here. Besides, this…”
“I came to look for someone. As such, I asked Mr. Gunner to bring me here,” Rosalie hurriedly explained.
“Looking for someone? Who could that be?” Lillian’s curiosity was piqued. She recalled that Rosalie was not a fan of any celebrity. Thus, the likelihood of her looking for one to get an autograph was close to zero.
“Irene and Warren,” Rosalie replied.
Lillian immediately understood it was probably related to Amelia. Therefore, she pulled Rosalie alone to one side and queried, “What’s going on with Amelia again?”
“Irene must have sent someone to cause trouble again, disrupting Amelia from doing business as usual. It would be unfavorable for Amelia to compete for custody without a stable income,” Rosalie added.
“Irene is too despicable!” Lillian spat out righteously. “How about I tell Callum to arrange a job for Amelia first?”
“We’ll see how things go after I check in on Irene and Warren today. If things don’t work out, we’ll do as you say,” Rosalie replied.
