The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 557

Chapter 557

“I think… my body is a little weak,” Jonathan said as he tried to take the bowl again.

When Rosalie saw his current state, she said, “Never mind, I’ll just feed you. If your hands turn weak later, you might drop the bowl again.”

As she spoke, she sat on the chair next to the bed. Then, she scooped up some oatmeal with a spoon. She blew on it to cool it down and then held it to his lips.

He obediently opened his mouth and ate the oatmeal she fed to him.

At that moment, he was like a tame puppy, taking mouthfuls of oatmeal one after another. But his eyes were staring at her with a burning gaze.

She felt a little uncomfortable because of the longing gaze

in his eyes.

“The… woman you mentioned last time. Did she truly end someone’s life in the Room Where Blood Spills?” She tried to find something to talk about so that she could break the silence.

“Yes, it’s true,” Jonathan replied.

“She killed someone from the Youngblood family, didn’t she? And they let her go just like that?” she asked, a little puzzled. The Youngblood family should have been quite rich already back then, even though the incident happened more than 70

years ago.

“Because the man she killed wanted to have mercy on her. He even wrote a last note before he died, that no one should be blamed for his death!” Jonathan said.

Rosalie was stunned. She wondered if that man of the Youngblood family had already expected this woman to come, after his life. That must be why he left a note like that.

But it was quite a chaotic era, so the law was not as strict as it was in current times. If the Youngblood family chose not to pursue this matter, that woman could indeed escape imprisonment.

“What happened to that woman after that?” she asked a little curiously.

For some reason, she wanted to know how that woman ended up.

“She came back to this place. The room you slept in used to be hers. She stayed there until the day she died,” he said.

“She stayed there until she died? Was she alone?”

“No, there was another.” He said lightly, “She came back pregnant, and she proceeded to give birth to a boy. That boy later became the heir of the Youngblood family.”

Rosalie was in utter shock. She didn’t expect the story to end like this.

That woman murdered the man she fell in love with, but she was also pregnant with that man’s child. Then, she chose to return to this place and give birth to the child.

This sort of fate was even more twisted than the sort commonly shown in TV series.

“Wait!” she thought in shock.

She suddenly widened her eyes and looked at Jonathan in disbelief. If she calculated the time correctly, then… “The boy she gave birth to was your… grandfather?”

“Yes.” He nodded and said, “This is the secret of the Youngblood family. I, too, only learned about it a few years ago.”

She felt awkward. She wasn’t sure if it was right for him to tell her this secret. Still, she truly didn’t expect that she had already met someone who was part of the story.

Even at that moment, she still remembered what had happened when she met Leonard. It was not a fond memory for her. Leonard’s cold and inhumane cruelty also caused her heart to shudder in fright.

If Jonathan hadn’t arrived in time back then, she might have already been disfigured by Leonard.

Jonathan seemed to notice what she was thinking. He parted his thin lips, saying, “Don’t worry. I won’t let grandfather hurt

you.”

She gently lowered her gaze. Then, she stood up and set the empty bowl aside. “Rest well. I’ll go back to my room first.” But before she could turn around, his hand was already tugging at her sleeve. He raised his chin slightly and looked at her. There was a shimmer in his clear eyes.

“Jonathan, what are you doing?” she asked.

“It’s not like you don’t have any feelings for me, right? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have stayed by my side, given me medicine, and even made oatmeal for me…” His hoarse voice came out of his mouth in short gasps. His expression looked like both pleading and longing. “Rosalie, can you fall for me? I never knew that I could love a woman this deeply!”

When he was around others, he was the high and mighty Mr. Youngblood. But when he was with her, he would give up his pride. He only wished for her to love him!

In an instant, she felt like her mind had turned blank.

Calvin had pulled almost all his strings to find Rosalie’s whereabouts, but it was not that easy. It was true that Calvin had connections, but Jonathan also had his connections. Of course, Jonathan could easily prevent being tracked.

Rosalie wasn’t the only one, either. Jonathan also hadn’t shown up recently.

For a moment, the search seemed to be stuck in a stalemate.

Calvin had never been so impatient as he was in the past few days. Even when Fiona was saying something in front of him, he couldn’t concentrate on listening. His mind was filled with thoughts of Rosalie’s whereabouts.
