Chapter 611
When she arrived at the hospital and mentioned Lillian’s name at the nurses’ station, what was initially considered a hint of hope had now been confirmed as a fact.
Lillian was indeed seriously injured and had just come out of the emergency room. Now she was under observation in the ICU ward. Only after passing through the critical period could she be transferred to an ordinary ward.
Rosalie felt as if everything in front of her was gradually becoming darker. When she came to the ICU ward, she saw Stephen and Abigail standing in front of the glass window and crying while looking inside.
Rosalie hadn’t met Lillian’s parents for more than four

years. She thought that she would be in such a place when she
Rosalie’s legs were trembling. At this moment, she was even a little timid and dared not step forward to see what Lillian looked like behind the glass window. She was afraid that if she saw her, she would be unable to bear it.
She took one step at a time.
It was a short distance, yet it felt so long.
When Rosalie finally reached the transparent glass window, Lillian lying on the hospital bed was the sight that greeted her.
In an instant, Rosalie burst into tears.
Rosalie thought, ‘Is that Lillian? Is that her? The person on the bed is lying motionless with a tube in her nose and thick gauze wrapped around her head. If not for the number on the instrument next to her that is still changing, I would think that a dead person is lying on the bed.
What exactly happened?
Before leaving Strico, Lillian was so energetic when I talked to her on the phone. She also said that we would get together and go shopping and have a meal when she came back.
Why did Callum disappear? Why was Lillian seriously injured? These things are like a mystery, and I have no answers yet.”
“How is Lillian doing now?” Rosalie murmured.
Her voice immediately attracted the attention of Lillian’s parents. When they turned around and saw it was Rosalie, they became angry again as if they had finally found a way to vent their anger.
Abigail snapped at Rosalie, “What are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you on the phone to stop harassing us if you’re still grateful to Lillian? Lillian had given up so much for you in the past. Now that she’s in this state, can’t you even give us some peace of mind?”
“I-I just want to know what happened to Lillian. Is there anything I can do to help?” Rosalie choked out.
“Help? What can you do to help?” Abigail said angrily. “You’ve been to prison. You are not a doctor or a cop. What can you do to help? Treat Lillian? Or find the killer who tried to hurt her?”
Rosalie clenched her teeth tightly. She couldn’t refute Abigail’s words.
Now she could do nothing but look at Lillian who was seriously injured.
Stephen was calmer than Abigail. He pulled his wife and said, “That’s enough. Stop talking about it. What’s the use of you telling her this?”
Then Stephen said to Rosalie, “Lillian is not doing so well. As you can see, our family is in a mess now. We are already in a bad mood. I hope you won’t show up in front of us again. Although we know that what happened to Lillian has nothing to do with you this time, seeing you will only remind us of how much Lillian has given up for you. We can’t help but have a grudge against you.”
“I-I understand,” Rosalie said. That was why she had never complained about Stephen and Abigail because no parent is willing to see their child sacrifice their great future for a friend.
At this moment, a nurse came over and handed Stephen and Abigail a bill. “Your previous deposit has been deducted and you still owe some money. Go and settle it quickly. After that, Lillian needs to have another two operations. There are also the expenses of the ICU ward and follow-up expenses. You guys should be prepared to spend a few hundred thousand
dollars.”
Stephen and Abigail felt their heads buzz when they heard that. Ordinary families like them couldn’t get so much money.
“I-Is it really that expensive?” Stephen asked tremblingly.
“It depends. You have to ask the doctor about it, but a few hundred thousand dollars is just a minimum. Maybe more money will be needed in later treatment,” the nurse said.
After the nurse left, Stephen and Abigail held the bill with a bitter look.
“What should we do about the money?” Abigail was at a loss. The two of them only had tens of thousands of dollars left in their savings. If they wanted to save their daughter, it would be hard for them to make ends meet.
However, if they didn’t pay up, the hospital would only give her conservative treatment and stop providing her medicines just to keep her breathing. There was no telling how long her life would last. Even if she could survive, she would always be
like a dead person.
