The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 616

Chapter 616

“400 thousand dollars could save Lillian’s life, but I can’t even borrow money for Lillian. What’s going to happen to Lillian? Will the Quinn residence have to be sold? After the house is sold, what if it isn’t enough? The ICU ward costs thousands of dollars every day, and ordinary people can’t afford it for a long time!” Rosalie thought.

Rosalie trembled and wanted to say something, but she didn’t know what else she could say.

All she had to negotiate in front of Jonathan was just herself. However, now that Jonathan couldn’t be bothered about her, she had nothing else to put on the table.

Rosalie’s despair made Jonathan’s heart throb. Jonathan pursed his thin lips tightly, disgusted that he was again feeling heartache for this woman who had abandoned him.

After a long time, Rosalie’s voice finally sounded in the office again. “You really won’t lend me 400 thousand dollars?”

Jonathan suppressed the pain in his heart and said coldly, “Didn’t I make myself clear enough?”

“You did,” Rosalie said bitterly. “Well then, I’m sorry for bothering you,” she added with all her strength.

She then turned around and walked step by step toward the door of the office.

“Oh, Lillian… What’s going to happen to Lillian? How can I save her? Why am I so useless? I can’t even trade my life for hers,” Rosalie thought.

It was only seven or eight steps from her current spot to the door, but every step Rosalie took was very slow as if all her strength had been drained. When she finally reached the door, she suddenly felt dizzy and was plunged into darkness.

Her last conscious thought told her that she seemed to have fallen into a familiar embrace.

Calvin had been restless all the time when he was having a physical examination at the hospital. The scene of Rosalie stopping the car in the morning kept flashing before his eyes.

Rosalie had looked so pale and fragile, and there had been pleading and hopeful looks in her eyes. However, such hope had soon been replaced by disappointment and even despair.

Calvin mused, ‘What was she disappointed about? What was she despairing about?

Was it because I refused to settle Lucas’s case in private?

Does she care about Lucas so much?”

Calvin shook his head, wanting to stop thinking about what happened in the morning.

“Calvin, what’s wrong with you?” Fiona’s voice sounded.

Calvin said placidly, “Nothing.”

Fiona’s eyes flickered slightly. Even if there was a crack and misunderstanding between Calvin and Rosalie, he was still indifferent to her, which made her unwilling to accept it.

Fiona thought, ‘What’s so good about Rosalie? She just studies more than me and looks better than me.

Back then, we were similar in appearance and often misunderstood as twins. But gradually, I looked less like Rosalie. In addition, Rosalie had been studying in the city all the time, so our temperament had changed even more.

Gradually, the people in town would always talk about how pretty and smart Rosalie was while I was just a wretch.”

At the thought of that, Fiona grew even more jealous.

“Calvin, you’re not still thinking about her, are you? Is it really okay for you to get into this mess with Rosalie over my lawsuit? Is it nice of you not to see her after she’s willing to beg you for Lucas?” asked Fiona.

“You don’t have to ask any more questions about me and her. For matters related to the lawsuit, you can communicate with the lawyer,” Calvin said coldly.

Fiona suddenly choked up and lowered her head to wipe away her tears. “Calvin, thank you. I thought you were still in love with Rosalie and would go along with her and talk me out of suing Lucas. I thought you would let me endure this grievance, but… I didn’t expect that you would hire a lawyer for me and help me file a lawsuit. Thank you. It was so nice of you. You are still the same as before.”

She had wanted to call him Cal, but thinking of his previous warnings, she gave up.

There was no need to make him unhappy because of a name. After all, the most important thing now was preventing him from meeting Rosalie and making him stay far away from her.

Calvin stared at Fiona and said, “As long as everything you say is true, I will certainly help you get justice.”

“Since Rosalie is determined to help Lucas, I’ll only look for her after this case comes to an end. I’ll have her know that the Lucas she cares about doesn’t deserve her trust at all. By then, she will naturally understand that she has believed the wrong person, Calvin thought.

However, he couldn’t tell whether he really wanted to get justice for Fiona or if he was just jealous of Lucas.
