Chapter 750
“How long has she been asleep?” Jonathan asked the caretaker. “About an hour,” the caretaker answered.
Jonathan bent down and gently stroked Rosalie’s cheek.
Only at this time could he touch her like that. He feared she would throw up because of her physical resistance toward him.
Shock flashed across the caretaker’s eyes.
She had been arranged to take care of Rosalie before but had never seen Jonathan appear. The caretaker had always thought Rosalie only managed to marry into the Youngblood family because she was pregnant with children and that Jonathan did not care about her.
Now, the caretaker was a little dumbfounded as she watched the scene.
Jonathan seemed to care dearly for Rosalie that even his touch was so careful as if he was handling a precious treasure.
Suddenly, Rosalie’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she opened her eyes in a daze. When Jonathan’s face entered her vision, she mumbled, “Jon…”
Jonathan’s body stiffened abruptly, but he had subconsciously retracted his hand. “Sorry for waking you up. If you’re still sleepy, you can sleep longer,” he said. “No need. If I go back to sleep, I’ll be unable to fall asleep at night.” She sat up slowly.
He wanted to help her sit up but immediately withdrew his hands upon remembering something and let the caretaker help Rosalie up.
“Then, you should wash up. I’ll have someone serve the food,” Jonathan said. “Okay,” Rosalie replied and got up.
Because her stomach had grown bigger, her movements had become more sluggish.
After she finished washing up and came to the dining room, she saw Jonathan quietly sitting on the chair at the table. He was looking down as if staring at his own hands.
“What’s wrong with his hands?” Rosalie wondered.
He seemed to have felt her gaze and looked up. Then, he stepped forward and pulled out a chair for her. He never touched her at all from beginning to end.
This was her first New Year’s celebration after marrying into the Youngblood family. The housekeepers and caretakers were not dining with them but eating in another small hall.,
Only Rosalie and Jonathan were at the wide dining table.

The meal was sumptuous. Almost all the dishes at the New Year’s Eve dinner were Rosalie’s favorite. Rosalie ate bite after bite while glancing sideways at Jonathan from time to time. She thought, “Now that I met Jonathan, I should tell him…
“Why do you keep sneaking looks at me? You can look at me openly if you want. We’re a married couple, aren’t we?” Jonathan suddenly said.
Rosalie felt awkward after being caught stealing glances at Jonathan.
“You know what? I’m happy,” Jonathan continued.
Rosalie was startled. “Happy?”
Jonathan gazed at Rosalie and said, “I’m happy you asked me to have this New Year’s Eve dinner with you, and I’m happy you want to see me again. Also, I’m glad you called me Jon again. Did you miss me in the past few days, Rosie?” She stared at him in a daze. Of course, she missed him. She kept thinking about their past and imagining their future.
“I missed you very much. I kept thinking about you these days,” Jonathan murmured, his voice sounding slightly airy.
Rosalie bit her lip. As if she had made up her mind, she said, “Yes, I missed you.” Jonathan’s eyes lit up like stars glistening when those words escaped her mouth. The corner of his mouth curved into a handsome smile.
“You missed me…” he kept muttering excitedly. Tears welled up in his beautiful eyes.
She looked at his excited expression and was lost in thought for a moment. She pondered, “My words can make him behave this way? I know he loves me. There’s no doubt about it. And I also love him, don’t I?”
“Let’s eat first. Otherwise, the food might get cold,” Rosalie said.
“Okay, let’s eat first. This is our first time celebrating New Year’s Eve together. You will have New Year’s Eve dinner with me every year from now on, right?” he asked with a nervous look, a glimmer of hope flashing in his eyes.
She knew what kind of answer he wanted to hear and did not want to disappoint him.
“Yes. Let’s have New Year’s Eve dinner together every year from now on,” she said.
This was a promise and also to fulfill his expectations and desires.
The next moment, two rows of tears poured out of Jonathan’s eyes and trickled down his face. He was crying, but his lips were smiling.
The smile was like the most beautiful spring, a sight difficult to look away from. For a moment, Rosalie only felt a tinge of pain in her heart.
It took them a while to finally finish the New Year’s Eve dinner because Jonathan cried.
“I-I want to watch some New Year’s Eve programs with you. Can you accompany

me?” Rosalie said. Speaking of which, she had not watched those programs for many years.
Rosalie could vaguely remember her cuddling in her grandmother Wilma’s arms as a child while watching the New Year’s Eve programs.
