Chapter 782
Just then, Jennifer, sitting to his right, opened her dark eyes wide and looked up at him. She asked in a confused tone, “Daddy, are you not eating? Mommy makes the best bread, and it’s delicious.”
After that, she turned to Guillermo and asked, “Guille, you think this is delicious too, right?”
Guillermo was still stuffing bread into his mouth. He hesitated for a moment and nodded stiffly.
He did not like the bread, but it was made by his mother. He wanted to eat it because he saw it in animated movies, and in kindergarten, children loved the food their mothers made.
“At least the bread Mommy made is okay and looks cute! But will Daddy eat his?” Guillermo wondered.
Just like that, Guillermo and Jennifer stared at Jonathan with their bright eyes. Then Rosalie smiled and said, “Eat it. It is delicious. I spent a lot of time perfecting it.” That was because she had made countless attempts to make bread for Jennifer.
Jonathan pursed his thin lips when Gary said, “Mrs. Youngblood spent more than an hour making breakfast this morning. I have also tasted it. It tastes good.”
Jonathan glanced at Rosalie’s hands and looked at her slightly deformed fingers. His heart ached once again.
Jonathan silently picked up the bread on the table and started eating.
Guillermo was stunned and did not even notice that the bread had fallen out of his mouth. “Is Daddy really eating the bread made by Mommy? I thought Daddy never liked this kind of animal-shaped bread. In the past, when I ate something similar, he would never eat such a thing,” he thought.
Meanwhile, Jennifer looked rather proud, knowing her mother had made the bread. “Mommy makes the best bread in the world!” she thought. After breakfast, Jonathan had to go to the office while Guillermo had to go to kindergarten. Rosalie helped Guillermo straighten up first before looking at Jonathan and reaching out to his neck.
He grabbed her hand and asked, “What are you doing?”
“I just want to help you straighten your tie. It is slightly tilted,” she said.
He stared at her. After a while, he finally let go of her hand.
“Please bend down so that it’s easier for me to straighten it,” Rosalie continued.
Jonathan’s eyes flashed. He bent as she asked, and Rosalie raised her hand to help him straighten his tie.
They were very close at that moment. If he were to bend any lower, his face would touch hers.
“Have we ever done this before?” he suddenly asked.
“Yes, I used to help you put on your tie,” she replied. When she had finished tying his tie, she raised her hand and touched his head as usual. Jonathan’s body suddenly stiffened. “What is going on? Is she touching my head?” he thought.
No one in Strico would dare to do such a thing, but he did not stop her because he felt a sense of familiarity.
Guillermo, who had always been calm, was shocked. “What is Mommy doing? Is she touching Daddy’s head? Daddy should be angry, right? Why does he look like he is enjoying it?” he thought.
“Did you do this a lot back then?” Jonathan asked.
“Yes,” she said. “Do you not like it? If you do not like it, I won’t do it in the future.”
In response, he looked away awkwardly and straightened up. “No need.” With that, Jonathan took his son’s hand and walked outside.
Rosalie was stunned. “What did he mean by that? Does he mean I can still do it? Did he like it when I touched his head? Does that mean he has feelings for me too? Does he like me? Maybe getting him to fall in love with me again is not as hard as I thought,” she thought.
Alan smiled when he asked Calvin, “Why are you here today?”
“I was free, so I came here to kill some time,” Calvin said. “Maybe I’ll leave Strico again in a few days.”
“Are you leaving again?” Alan was stunned. “You have only been back for a few days.”
“There is a new project overseas. Someone needs to be in charge of the overall situation, and I plan to go there,” Calvin said.
“Will your old man agree?” Alan asked.
“Does it matter if he disagrees? I can go as I wish.”
Alan hesitated momentarily and asked, “Calvin, are you leaving Strico because of Rosalie?”
Calvin’s expression suddenly darkened. When he heard Rosalie’s name, he felt a choking pain.
“You don’t have to leave Strico because you think Rosalie died here,” Alan said. “Rosalie is not dead. She has returned to the Youngblood residence.” Even if Alan did not say it, Calvin would probably know about it in a few days. After all, the return of the lady of the Youngblood family had been spread in the upper-class coterie of Strico.
