Chapter 817
Every word she said was like a dagger stabbing into him.
“Or, if the only way for you to stop appearing in front of me is for me to find another man, then I can do that,” Amelia said.
Warren almost lost his balance. Had he heard her right? “Do I disgust you so much?” he murmured, every word seeming to be squeezed out from the depth of his throat.
“I wouldn’t call it disgust, but every time I see you around me, I’m reminded of all the suffering I went through. Warren, do you know? You’ve become nothing but a nightmare for me. And now, I just want to forget the past,” she replied.
Warren’s eyes were filled with despair. The five fingers that held her wrist tightly loosened bit by bit before his hand finally fell to his side. A desolate air emanated from him.
A nightmare?
It turned out that he was just a nightmare for her. When she saw him, all she would think of was those unhappy memories from before!
Looking at the indifference on Amelia’s face, Warren suddenly had a feeling that maybe he would never gain a place in this woman’s heart again.
Perhaps the only thing he could do for her now was just not seeing each other!
“If… If this is truly your wish, I will do what you want,” Warren said in a low voice. Even if this decision caused nothing but immeasurable pain to him, he was willing to follow her wishes.
Since every time she saw him was a nightmare for her, he wanted to end her suffering.
In an instant, he seemed to have aged several years. “I’ll go. I won’t bother you. If you are ever in trouble and don’t want to call me, you can also call the company or leave a message at any of York Group’s companies. As long as you tell your name, someone will help you resolve your problems. That way, you don’t even have to see me.”
She still wore an indifferent expression, as if his words could no longer bring her to feel any emotions at all.
Warren stared intently at Amelia. She was so close to him that the

moonlight falling on her face clearly illuminated the marks time had left on her.
The current her was cold and distant.
But in the past, she…
His ears seemed to ring with words from the past. Back then, she once smiled sweetly at him while saying in a delighted voice, “Warren, I’m so lucky that you are my first love! Heehee!”
“Warren, why am I so lucky to have a boyfriend like you? My friends envy me and ask how I caught you! What do you think? Did I catch you?” “If we split up one day, you must find me and bring me back to you. We agreed not to separate, remember?”
In the end, he couldn’t bring her back to him. After all, he was the one who forcefully pushed her away.
The memories of the past and the reality of today were constantly alternating in Warren’s mind.
He couldn’t help stretching out his hand, wanting to touch her cheek as if he was subconsciously trying to retain those wonderful memories.
But the next moment, Amelia avoided Warren’s hand.
His hand hovered in midair, the lack of sensation pulling him back to the real world.
His mouth was dry, and he wanted to say something more, but when he opened his mouth, he didn’t know what to say. Maybe there was already nothing to say between him and her.
No matter what he said, she didn’t want to hear it.
Warren watched Amelia turn around and walk away from him until she disappeared back into her shop.
With that, Warren was left standing there alone with endless sorrow on his handsome face.
Rosalie had been back in Strico for a while. She used to work in a law firm with her mentor in Lofbury, so now that she had returned to Strico, it was only natural she continued working as a lawyer.
One weekend, Rosalie and Jonathan took advantage of the kids’ two-hour extra-curricular classes to stroll in a shopping mall nearby while also checking to see if there was any suitable location for an office.
“Oh? You want to open a law firm?” Jonathan asked.

“Yeah, that’s the idea, provided the rent is acceptable, of course,” Rosalie said. Her years in Lofbury had allowed her to accumulate some
connections.
Although she had to start from scratch in Strico, it should not be too difficult.
“If you’re sure about it, I’ll ask Carlos to find some suitable places for you later,” Jonathan said.
“Let me guess. The place you’ll find for me will probably be expensive, big, and also in a prime location.”
“Isn’t that good?” he asked.
