The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 819

Chapter 819

At that moment, Callum suddenly flashed past Lillian’s mind.

Following that, she shook her head vigorously. She admonished herself in her mind, “What’s wrong with me? Why did I think of Callum again? What I need to do is try to let go of him!”

Once they were done selecting their cakes, they returned to the table where Rosalie and Jonathan were sitting. Lillian saw that the sight that greeted them was a blushing Rosalie being fed cake by Jonathan.

The public display of affection exasperated Lillian. At the same time, she was delighted to see her friend so happy now. Even if she herself did not get a happy ending, it was enough that Rosalie had a fulfilling relationship.

While the four of them were chatting, Lillian learned that Rosalie was going to open a law firm in Strico and immediately expressed her support. “I’ll definitely be there for your opening ceremony!”.

“Okay,” Rosalie replied with a smile. “Mr. Backman, if you’re free then, you should come too.”

“Sure,” Jerick answered.

During the following conversation, Rosalie learned that Jerick was a mid-level manager of a large company. Being able to be a mid-level manager of a large company at his age was proof of his capability, However, Jonathan didn’t chat much. Instead, he focused almost exclusively on feeding Rosalie cake, which made her feel embarrassed!

When they were finished, Rosalie bought two more slices, preparing to let the children try them after she picked them up later.

The four of them walked out of the cake shop. Just then, a voice suddenly shouted, “Here she is! That damn lawyer is here!”

Then, many people rushed toward Rosalie and the others. Before Rosalie could react, the crowd had already thrown something at her.

The next moment, Rosalie felt herself being tightly held in a warm embrace. Then she heard a familiar voice saying, “Rosalie, don’t be afraid!”

Lillian and Jerick were also dumbfounded at the sudden turn of events. They watched as those people threw all kinds of rotten vegetables and eggs in the quartet’s direction.

Jerick came to his senses a few seconds faster than Lillian. He was about to pull her away, but another figure was faster than him and swiftly pulled Lillian behind his back, allowing himself to be hit by the filth. It was none other than Callum!

Jerick looked at the man who had suddenly appeared in surprise. How could it be such a coincidence that Callum happened to appear then? Or maybe…

Meanwhile, the attackers had been subdued by several other people. One of them came to Jonathan and said, “Mr. Youngblood, are you all right? The people who made trouble just now have all been subdued.”

Jonathan slowly loosened his arms around Rosalie.

It was only then Rosalie caught sight of how disheveled the man in front of her was.

His body and hair had bits of rotten vegetables stuck on them, and his face was dripping foul-smelling eggs.

Compared to him, she was significantly cleaner.

“Jon, how are you? Are you hurt? Is it serious?” Rosalie’s voice trembled as she asked him anxiously.

Just now, she had been encompassed in his arms tightly. No matter how she shouted at him to let her go and not to use himself as a shield to protect her, he refused to let go of her.

“I’m fine. They didn’t throw anything big or heavy,” Jonathan said calmly. Rosalie only breathed a sigh of relief after she checked to ensure Jonathan was fine. Even so, her heart still trembled from lingering fear. Jonathan turned around and said to his subordinate, “You’ll be punished for your dereliction of duty today after I go back. In addition, find out what exactly is going on with these people.”

“Understood,” the subordinate answered.

At that moment, one of the people who had been restrained by Jonathan’s men struggled to raise his head and shout, “Rosalie, you piece of shit lawyer! Don’t think this matter is over just because you ran away to hide in Strico. You colluded with your mentor Connor and caused me to be imprisoned for two and a half years, leading to my wife and children leaving me. I’m definitely getting payback for what you’ve done!” Rosalie didn’t recognize the middle-aged man before her until she heard those words. He was the defendant in one case she dealt with years ago,

and she was the lawyer for the plaintiff.

In the end, the plaintiff won, and the defendant was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

“I have a clear conscience. You deserved it in this case.”

“You! You and your mentor used me as a stepping stone so that you could gain a reputation in the legal field! You are a shameless…”

Before he could finish his words, someone covered his mouth. At that moment, a car came over and stopped. Jonathan tugged Rosalie toward it while saying, “Get in the car first.”

“But what about Lillian and the others…”

“My men will get them out of here. They’ll be fine,” Jonathan said. Rosalie looked at the scene in front of her. A crowd had formed, and she couldn’t even see where Lillian and Jerick were.

It was indeed better to leave as soon as possible.

She bit her lip, got in the car, and took out her to call Lillian.

However, no one answered even after the phone rang for a while.

Rosalie instantly grew anxious. “Lillian must be in trouble. Jon, I have to get out of the car and look for her!”
