The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 825

Chapter 825

But he didn’t ask the driver to stop. Instead, he said, “If you want to distance yourself from me, you should have slapped me in the face when I pulled you into the car. Don’t you think it’s too late to say that?”

Lillian stared at him. “You… I’m unlucky enough now. What do you want? Aren’t you worried your girlfriend will misunderstand if you show up like this today?”

Callum stared at Lillian obscurely. “Does it matter if she misunderstands? Will you believe me if I say I’ve never had any feelings for her?”

Lillian was stunned and looked at Callum in a daze. After a while, she spoke as if she had regained her composure, “So, are you only with her because of your career and the power?”

He pursed his thin lips and didn’t respond to her.

Hence, she stopped asking further. She used to believe that even though his career was why he chose to be with Madeline, they should still have feelings for each other. After all, they have been in a committed relationship for five years and are on the brink of marriage.

Otherwise, why would he marry someone he didn’t love?

But now he told her that he had no feelings for Madeline!

The car was heading in a direction that was becoming more and more remote. Lillian was suddenly shocked. “Where are you taking me?

“A place that will keep you away from any possible trouble. Something may happen soon. It would be best if you stayed there for now,” Callum replied.

“I need to go home, and not be somewhere away from trouble. Callum, please ask the driver to stop the car!” Lillian exclaimed.

“The car won’t stop, Lillian. I just want you to be safe,” Callum stated. Lillian responded by asking, “Safe? Is this how you protect me? Are you attempting to force me to go somewhere against my will?”

“Just trust me this once!” He insisted.

She suddenly smiled. “Callum, have you ever thought that I can be safe and sound as long as you don’t show up in front of me? Maybe if you hadn’t come into my life and we hadn’t fallen in love back then, I might not have ended up in the ICU with a severe injury. If you hadn’t come

and taken me to the hotel room, this incident wouldn’t have happened today.”

A deep frown marred Callum’s countenance. A touch of pain flashed in his eyes, but it flashed too fast that Lillian didn’t catch it at all.

Callum shifted his gaze slightly and convinced her softly, “You have to stay there for some time, even if you don’t want to. After a few days, everything will be over.”

Lillian didn’t know what Callum was planning, but his words made it clear that there was no way to refuse.

“Is he afraid she will say something inappropriate to the media and ruin his marriage? Or is there some other reason to keep her away from this?” Lillian pondered.

The rest of the journey was completely silent. No one said a word.

Upon reaching their destination, Lillian discovered it was an ordinary residential area. Despite being in a remote area on the outskirts, many city dwellers purchase homes here due to the affordable prices. Therefore, at night, the place is quite lively.

Callum took Lillian to a condominium and said to her, “Stay here for a few days. Please request leave from your office first. Once everything is sorted out after a few days, you can leave here and live a normal life!”

Lillian frowned. “What are you trying to sort out? What do you mean by that? Are you looking for the person who took these two photos? Are you asking the person with the verified account to apologize publicly for spreading this incident online? Callum, I want to live a normal life, and that’s why we should cut ties with each other from now on, okay?”

“Do you really want to cut ties with me?” He struggled to ask it, his hands hanging at his side, tightly clenched into fists.

He planned to act early and fight an uphill battle for her, but the woman he loved most was talking about cutting ties with him!

“Shouldn’t we? Why are you reaching out to me now after breaking up with me so decisively in the past and not having any contact for the last five years? Do you think everything will be fine if I stay here for a few days, away from trouble?” she asked.

Callum’s fingers clenched relentlessly, his nails piercing deeply into the palm of his hand.

“Why? She’s right. Why did I do that? Because I missed her and thought

about her constantly. Because I had been planning this for five years. With a little more time, I could have resolved this problem successfully. I can’t help but come to see her and get involved with her. I know my anxiety almost ruined my plans, but luckily, I’m not the same person I was five years ago!” Callum was lost in thought.

“Believe me, I won’t let go of anyone who framed you. I will not allow those rumors to slander you. If there is no good result in a few days, then…” He paused and smiled bitterly, “From that moment forward, you are free to cut ties with me.”

Because that showed that he failed to do it!

Lillian felt a sharp pain in her heart. His smile made her uneasy, and she had trouble breathing.

“Callum, what do you plan to do?” She didn’t understand why he did this. They had already broken up with each other.

“I want to…” he murmured, gazing at her with a hint of desire and yearning.
