Chapter 917
“It’s only a week, Lillian. All I ask is to give me another week,” urged Callum.
Lillian was displeased. “What in the world do you want, Callum? You refuse to talk about the compensation for the car accident and then keep asking me to give you time. Are you going to ask me to give you a few more weeks in one week again?”
“Lillian, I…”
At this moment, a voice suddenly sounded, interrupting Callum.
“What are you two doing together?”
Hearing that, Lillian instantly quivered, for that was her father Stephen’s voice.
Hurriedly, Lillian looked back and spotted her parents standing not far away, looking at the duo in astoundment. Her mother Abigail was even carrying a food basket with plenty of groceries inside. Unmistakably, Stephen and Abigail had just come back from grocery shopping.
“Lillian, you said you had something to do this morning. Was it just to go out with Callum?” Abigail questioned.
Lillian blinked, at a loss for how to explain herself there and then.
“What did you two do this early in the morning?”
Lillian was struck dumb, feeling an incoming headache. “How do I answer that? Am I supposed to tell them that Callum accompanied me to a prenatal checkup early in the morning?” she brooded. Right then, Abigail seemed to think of something, and her expression changed. Then, she approached Stephen’s ear and whispered something that caused his countenance to change as well.
“We’ll talk in the house! You’re coming with us, Callum!” stated Stephen.
Lillian was taken aback. “Dad, you want him to come to our place too?”
“If not? He’s already sent you to the door. Shouldn’t we ‘invite’ him into our house and have a seat?” Stephen gritted out, emphasizing the word “invite.”
Lillian still wanted to convince Stephen otherwise, but Callum ended up answering straightforwardly, “Sure!”
“You… You’re really coming to my house?” Lillian looked at Callum in bafflement.
“Mr. Quinn has already extended the invitation. Of course, I have to,” said Callum.
With that, the four of them returned to the Quinn residence. Stephen glared at Callum with obvious displeasure. Stephen had only invited Callum to the house because Stephen feared the neighbors would overhear them outside earlier.
Had that not been the case, Stephen would’ve long chewed out Callum when they were outside. “Lillian, tell me yourself. Are you with this Callum fellow again?” Stephen questioned.
“No!” Lillian denied it at once.
However, as soon as Lillian finished speaking, Abigail took out a bottle of folic acid and put it on the coffee table. “Then, what is this?”
Lillian scowled at the bottle of folic acid. This was one of the stuff from the pile of parcels Callum had sent her previously. She had stuffed them all into her cabinet at first, but upon learning that folic acid was used to prevent fetal deformity, she took the bottle out and consumed the tablets.
As only one tablet was required a day, Lillian offhandedly put the bottle in the drawer after taking the medication daily.
Alas, now, it appeared in Abigail’s hand.
“Mom, you went through my drawer?” Lillian shouted.
Abigail glowered at Lillian. “I was looking for a nail clipper. How would I know I’d find this instead? I
thought you were taking some nonsensical weight-loss pills. But when I got to the pharmacy, they told me this is taken by women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant!”

Lillian bit her lip and immediately didn’t dare to say anything else.
“Lillian, you… Why are you eating this for no reason? Don’t tell me that you… you…” Abigail seemed a little embarrassed to continue.
Stephen, on the other hand, yelled right away, “Be honest with me. Are you pregnant with Callum’s child?”
The more Stephen thought about Lillian’s recent periodical vomiting, her sudden break up with Jerick and being platonic friends with Jerick, the fact that it was Callum who sent Lillian back today, as well as the pile of parcels that were sent to their home inexplicably some time ago, the more Stephen thought this was a possibility.
Lillian almost went down on her knees before Stephen, stunned by how Stephen actually guessed it right based on one box of folic acid!.
Just the sight of Lillian’s expression told Stephen his speculation was correct. Promptly, he stood up and swung a fist at Callum.
Stephen was nearly 60 years old now, so his punch was naturally not too powerful. Nonetheless, Callum did not dodge it and simply stood there motionless, allowing Stephen to beat him up.
“You little punk! Back then, you broke up with Lillian when she was seriously injured, and now you’ve come to take advantage of her again. Haven’t you done enough harm to her?” Stephen rained his fist down on Callum repeatedly and soon started panting.
Callum however, remained unmoving as he endured the hits.
In the meantime, Lillian and Abigail hurriedly stopped Stephen. “What’s the use of hitting him, Stephen? It’s pointless right now!” Abigail said.
“He’s too awful! I need to give him a good beating! Lillian isn’t just someone he can take advantage of as he pleases! Just look at him. He pulled up his pants and left right after having his fill, but what about Lillian? How is she going to live in the future?” Stephen bellowed, his fist still landing on Callum’s body.
Callum didn’t say a word or defend himself.
