Chapter 920
“Hey, stop talking nonsense, will you? If Mr. White knows that you are gossiping about him behind his back, you might lose your job,” the other security guard reminded.
Thus, the security guard who just advised Lillian immediately shut up and stopped talking.
With that, the two security guards seemed to completely ignore Lillian.
Lillian only felt as if her body was getting colder and colder. She almost found it difficult to remember what she wanted to say to Callum after meeting him. Her mind had gone blank.
Lillian trod back slowly to her car, but she did not start the car and leave. Instead, she continued looking in the direction of the mansion.
“Maybe… Madeline just went in for a while. Or maybe… White Maple Group and the Tall family simply have some business matters to settle…” she thought.
Lillian kept finding various reasons to explain why Madeline had gone into the place, but as the seconds. ticked by, it became more and more difficult for her to convince herself.
When her phone rang, she saw that the call was from her mother. Her eyes were suddenly filled with
tears.
“Mom.” She picked up the call and tried to make her voice sound normal.
“It’s late. Why aren’t you back yet?” Abigail asked.
“I’m… staying over at Rosalie’s tonight. I want to talk with her, as I haven’t had a long conversation with her for a long time,” Lillian said.
“Aren’t you afraid of disturbing others?”
“Rosalie won’t mind. Mom, I… I’ll talk to you another time. I will go straight to work tomorrow and will come back at night.” After saying that, Lillian hurriedly ended the call. She was afraid that if she continued talking, her mother would sense something wrong.
After ending the call, Lillian took a deep breath and stroked her belly with one hand. She looked at the mansion again.
She didn’t choose to go back but stayed here. Perhaps she wanted an answer that would tell her what she should do next.
“Callum! Callum!” she silently repeated the name in her heart. She wondered how much of his love toward her was true, and how much of it wasn’t. When he called her name with affection, she instantly fell under his spell.
It felt as though no time had passed between them, as though they were still the same people who loved each other so wholeheartedly years ago.
She thought they could start over again and that she could take the gamble.

But now, before the game even started, she had received a tight slap from the cruel reality.
At this moment, in the mansion, Callum’s handsome face was distorted in agony. He crawled on the
ground, grabbing the floor with his twisted fingers and ceaselessly uttering cries of pain that could not be suppressed.
He was in such a wretched state that no one looking at him now would believe that he was the handsome and dashing Chairman of White Maple Group.
“I must live. I must survive. As long as I make it through this night, then I can be with Lillian! We will have a bright future together! After tonight… Tonight…” he thought.
Madeline looked coldly as Callum writhed in pain. Although the man who caused her to become a laughingstock and caused the downfall of the Tall family was suffering so much pain, it did not make her feel happy.
Instead, she only felt disappointment.
This man was willing to endure such unbearable pain because of Lillian. This curse was only targeted at Lillian. As long as he was willing to choose any other woman in the world, he wouldn’t have to endure the pain of removing the poison. Yet, he chose Lillian even though that meant risking his life.

As for Madeline, she wasted many years and didn’t get anything.
“What exactly is so good about Lillian? How could she make a man like Callum devote himself to her like that? That woman is plain and has never done anything for him!” she thought.
“Callum, is it really worth suffering like that just for Lillian? She doesn’t even know that you are suffering like this!” Madeline walked up to Callum and squatted down. “If you can’t survive tonight, then you will die. Even if you die, she might not even drop a tear for you. In her heart, you will always be the heartless man who abandoned her.”
It was as though provoking him like this was the only way to put herself in a better mood.
Callum struggled in his pain to raise his head. At this moment, there was already a faint hint of defeat in his expression, but he still panted and said in an extremely dry voice, “If I die, your family… won’t survive either. I don’t need you to judge… how much I am willing to suffer for Lillian.”
As long as it was for Lillian, anything was worth it.
