Chapter 995
Callum rubbed his forehead and gazed at Lillian. “Are you planning to come to my room every day in the future to get to know each other?”
“Well, if you think it’s okay, that would be great,” she said.
Feeling speechless, he approached her directly, pushing her against a nearby cabinet. “Lillian, do you really not see me as a man?”
In the evening, she lay beside him, and her arms occasionally reached out to him. Her legs extended over her pregnancy pillow to rest on his thigh. It was beyond ridiculous.
“Of course not, I’ve never thought of you as a woman,” she immediately replied.
He couldn’t help but chuckle. “You really trust me, don’t you?”
“I trust you more than anyone else,” she said matter-of-factly.
Her words momentarily left Callum at a loss for a response.
“By the way, what happened yesterday? Did you… um, eat something you shouldn’t have?” she nervously inquired.
His body tensed. “Do you really want to know?”
This question carried a weighty significance.
Lillian hesitated before responding with a simple “yes.” She wanted to know everything about him, both the good and the bad.
She wanted to understand what had caused him to act the way he did yesterday.
“I drank some alcohol that had something added to it. The person who handed me that drink was my mother,” Callum murmured softly.
Lillian was stunned as she thought, “It was done by his mother?”
The woman appeared dignified but had almost caused a miscarriage for her unborn child. Lillian had no positive impressions of Ysabel.
She never imagined that a mother would actively try to harm her own son.
She could almost guess the reason. After all, there were news reports before about his birthday banquet, stating that Ysabel had invited many socialites in the city.
Some even compared the birthday banquet to a matchmaking event.
“She… she strongly opposes us being together, right?” Lillian bit her lip and said, “If she never agrees in the end, then you…”
“I am no longer a pawn in her hands. The choices I make are my own,” Callum replied. “My mother probably won’t come to disturb you anymore for the next few years. I won’t let her harm our child. This child will undoubtedly be born safe and sound.”
Hearing this, Lillian breathed a sigh of relief. “No matter what, even if your mother continues to object, I will persistently pursue you, just as you said. I won’t give up.”
A light chuckle escaped his lips involuntarily. This woman could be quite frustrating sometimes, but when he was feeling down, she always managed to make him feel better.
“All right, Lillian. You gave me your word. You will persistently pursue me. If you can’t do it one day, I won’t forgive you for the rest of my life.” His voice was like a densely woven web, ensnaring her within it.
“Aiden, your mom has already served her time in prison; I don’t mind you. Why do you refuse me?” The girl’s voice carried a prideful arrogance and indignation.

She acted as if being rejected was a grave humiliation to her.
Rosalie, who was originally on her way to the principal’s office, paused when she heard this voice calling out Aiden’s name.
“Just because you like me doesn’t mean I have to like you. Also, my mother has been wrongly accused, and the law has cleared her name,” Aiden responded firmly.
