The CEO's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 28

Everything was as it should have been.

The contract was signed so all the bullshit was going to stop. The moment she actually read the contract of course.

Roman looked at the copy of the contract that had been placed on the side of his desk. Last night had been a dickish move, and this morning, taking her like that had been completely unnecessary.

But the first thing he had seen when he had opened his eyes was her stunning face and... Well, he wasn't a monk. He could be forgiven for continuing the charade even after he's gotten what he had gone there for.

But now he could put a stop to her visits to this boy without having to do anything drastic like follow her in there and punch the living shit out of him.

Brendan. Brendan Smith. A generic name for an equally unimpressive man. There had never been any competition there.

Not that he had gone through all this just to get rid of another man. That would be just ridiculous. It was the principle behind the matter. Evelyn had given herself to him, and with him was exactly where she would remain until he said so.

His phone rang, thankfully taking his mind from the stupid thoughts.

  "Yes?"

"Sir, Miss Cartwright is here to see you. I've told her that you have a meeting in a few minutes but she said it's urgent."

  He sighed.

Just great. Of course, she would say it was urgent. She probably wanted to colour coordinate their clothes like they were teenagers going to prom.

  "Send her in," he instructed.

If it wasn't for the fact that he needed to be at this party, he would have continued ignoring her less than subtle advances.

Vivian Cartwright walked in, in a haze of perfume, self-importance and privilege. Her handbag alone could feed a big family three times a day for months. He could admit she was a beautiful woman - tall, leggy, big eyes and chest. But she was not his type. Her only ambition was to marry rich so she could go from spending her father's money to her husband's.

Exactly like Esther. And that was why agreeing to be by her side for the night was grating on his nerves.

"Roman," she smiled as she came around his desk and kissed his cheeks in greeting.

She had never taken such liberties before, but one date and it was like she thought she had him already wrapped around her finger.

"Vivian," he greeted without a smile.

"I was in the neighbourhood and thought I'd just drop by to make sure we're all set for tomorrow night."

Vivian was soft-spoken and liked to appear demure. Just a mask to use as bait for the 'right man', whoever that unlucky bastard would be in the future. He'd already seen the real her several times since he had met her.

"Didn’t my assistant email you the confirmation?" he asked as he looked back at the paperwork in front of him.

His assistant had been right to try to stop Vivian from coming in. He'd overloaded his diary by cancelling so many things the day before, and now he had to catch up before he could drive down to see Evelyn again.
