“The news isn’t all of it. Did you misunderstand something?”
Joseph Beckham was relaxed as he took the initiative talking about the news that had been making a lot of noise since last night.
Despite the feeling of dissatisfaction, Hayden Downey tried her best to remain calm when looking at him.
“Since the news by the reporter isn’t all of it, then let see what’s behind it. Don’t you tell me that you met her by chance at the airport and caught on camera by the reporter coincidentally.”
“No.” Joseph furrowed his brows, “I didn’t hide it from you about the matter that Viola helped contacting the German doctor. When I brought Noah to Germany, it so happened that she was shooting a commercial in Germany too, and so we met. As for the matter of the sneak photo of us returning from abroad, Magnus has been dealing with it already. It will be removed from the trending topics very soon. “
Joseph explained it as clear as day in a few words.
Hayden nearly believed him. If it weren’t for Alayna Cole’s words last night, she would be chagrined at that moment for being so narrow-minded and refusing to believe him even on such a trivial matter.
Hayden took a deep breath as she gave him a cold-eyed stare, “Done talking?”
“Don’t you believe me?” Joseph frowned.
He thought that he had explained it clearly. He had never bothered to waste his breath with a woman on something unreal.
“I do. Of course I believe what you have said.” Hayden glanced at him and raised her wrist, looking at the watch, “Just that you should go now already since you have done talking. My free time is about to end. Five more minutes and I need to get back to work.”
Joseph was baffled by her being unconcerned. Hayden was still behaving like this after a moment of silence. He questioned, “Hayden, I don’t like playing mind games with you.”
“Neither do I.”
Their talking was quick, and the situation turned even awkward.
After a while, the office door snapped against the wall, making a loud sound. Hayden clenched her fist that was holding the corner of the table as she watched Joseph leave.
Joseph made a fuss over this just to see Hayden getting mad at him being ambiguous with another woman, wasn’t it?
As he wished.
Joseph got into the car after leaving the ST Hotel. He had never felt annoyed like this.
Magnus James was unaware of it as he held the steering wheel while reporting on the reservation status, “Mr. Beckham, I’ve made a reservation for six thirty tonight.”
“Cancel…” Joseph said at the back without letting Magnus finished his words.
Magnus was stunned as he saw Joseph’s face darkened through the rear-view mirror.
“Okay, I got it. Is Ms. Downey working overtime tonight?” Magnus asked sluggishly.
As he asked, he could saw Joseph giving him the cold-eyed stare through the rear-view window. Joseph was giving him the heebie-jeebies.
Why did he have to bring this up?
Luckily, the phone rang in time and saved Magnus’s life.
It was a call from Kevin Jackman. Joseph glanced at it and then answered it, “What’s up?”
Kevin was speaking cautiously, “Did Hayden know about the news?”
“Yes.” Joseph responded in a cold voice.
“Did you quarrel?” Kevin boldly pursued the question.
“No.”
Kevin, on the other end of the line, was silent for a moment after hearing Joseph’s incompatible answer, “Joseph, I intend to have a vacation in the next two days. If there’s anything need me in the company, just find my assistant. I’m not coming back for the moment until then.”
It was commonplace for Kevin to take a vacation, especially when he got into trouble with some girls. Joseph had used to it after so many years, and he agreed without asking any reason.
