Night fell. The evening breeze at the hilltop sounded a bit cool when they felt it.
Hayden and Joseph walked around the hill while holding each other’s hands. Seeing that Joseph was familiar with everywhere, she could not help but ask.
“Do you come here often? How come you’re so familiar with this place?”
“The development right of this place is under the ST Group. It was originally meant to become a resort area but this project was delayed due to some matters after that. So, this place has become a deserted hill.”
Joseph paused for a few seconds before speaking slowly.
Hayden’s attention was entirely on the environment in the surrounding so she did not notice a trace of despondency in Joseph’s eyes.
“Is it deserted? I feel that it’s taken care of pretty well. There are flowers and trees all over the place and there are many large fruit trees over there. Many raspberries can be found there.”
Hayden seemed to have somewhat realized something. She raised her eyes to size up Joseph’s face, “However, you apparently haven’t answered my question directly.”
Joseph’s face stiffened. After a moment of silence, he let go of Hayden’s hand and paced to the place where there was a draught. The wind at the hilltop entered his shirt and this made his shirt somewhat expanded. This inexplicably showed loneliness.
“I often came when I was a child.” Joseph looked indifferent, “After my father passed away, I never come. The project of the resort was also stopped due to my father’s death.”
Joseph’s father died in a car accident. Hayden frowned, “So, your father is…”
“Yes.”
Joseph took a deep breath and showed a rarely seen sadness, “My father had an accident on this hill.”
Hayden’s heart tightened slightly. She walked up with an apologetic face, “Sorry.”
She should not ask so many questions. This matter would probably cause him to feel very sad.
“It’s okay. That is already a matter that happened many years ago. Also, I’m the one who wants to bring you here. I intend to restart the development project of the resort so perhaps this will be the last time for us to see the natural phenomenon here.”
He backhanded to hold Hayden’s hand and pulled her to his side, “When you come here the next time, there will be a place for you to stay.”
Joseph suddenly embraced her and there was a trace of tenderness in his eyes, “I just hope that in the future, on this day every year, you can also think of some happy things rather than only thinking of the anniversary of your mother’s death.”
Hayden lay in his arms and her voice was slightly muffled, “Like what?”
“For example, today is the day you come to this world. Without this day, I won’t have met you.”
“You will meet someone else too.”
Hayden deliberately teased him, “Such as Viola or someone else. If I don’t exist, won’t you have married someone else? Perhaps, your child will be given birth soon not long after.”
“What exactly are you going to say?” Joseph frowned. His tone became cold but the tenderness in his eyes did not diminish at all.
This woman was indeed dropping a clanger.
Hayden blinked and said with great regret, “I’ve prevented you from having a marriage with others, I’m really sorry.”
Her sly behaviour made her looked like a little fox. Joseph looked down at her and he could not see her clearly in the dark.
The next second, Hayden was carried by Joseph in his arms. As her legs were suddenly lifted from the ground, she wrapped her hands tightly around his neck.
“Oh my God…” Hayden’s screams echoed throughout the hilltop, “What are you doing? Put me down…”
