Samuel felt that he must be experiencing rotten luck. Before he even managed to meet who he wanted to, he had already got beaten up out of nowhere. He knew he couldn’t afford to offend Joseph, but he couldn’t hold himself back.
Once this lamp hits Joseph, his head would definitely split into two.
He was busy envisioning Joseph’s head splitting into two, and imagining himself boasting to everyone how he managed to teach this arrogant young master a lesson.
Nevertheless, imagination was always more wonderful than reality.
In reality, before the lamp had even touched Joseph’s head, Samuel felt something on the back of his own head. Following that he felt a stream of hot sticky liquid trickling down his neck.
Behind him, Hayden, with her face as pale as a ghost, was holding a steel pipe.
Samuel turned around to look at Hayden in shock.
“Plonk.”
The steel pipe fell to the ground and rolled away noisily, joining a bunch of sex toys in the corner. Samuel blacked out before managing to utter a word, and fell straight from his bed.
“I… I killed someone…”
All blood drained from her face, Hayden stared down at her own hands, her legs felt heavy and she couldn’t even move a step.
“So much blood…” Hayden’s head started ringing, her vision blurred, she couldn’t focus on anything, and she couldn’t stop mumbling ‘blood’.
Before she managed to revert back to her senses, she felt her body being enveloped in a warm and tight embrace, till she almost couldn’t catch her breath.
Joseph held her tightly in his arms, as if he was hugging a treasure that he had lost, and buried his head in her shoulders. His anxiety only dissipated a little when he made sure that Hayden was indeed the one in his arms.
Before she appeared in front of him, he had once thought he would never be able to see her in his life anymore. Samuel’s words had made him believe something terrible had happened to the love of his life.
Very soon, police sirens sounded outside the window. The police cordoned off the crime scene and started bringing away the eye witnesses. When Hayden was leaving Joseph’s arms she was still at a loss. She hadn’t even managed to utter a word to Joseph before she was taken away.
“Name.”
“Hayden.”
“Age.”
“25.”
“…”
After the routine questioning, the police retrieved Hayden’s information from the archives and gave her a surprised look, "Are you not Chinese?"
Hayden nodded and explained, “I grew up in China but moved to America 5 years ago. This matter doesn’t have much to do with me. You can ask whatever you want to, but don’t alert the embassy.”
Since she is American, if this was a serious case, the police had no right to deal directly with her.
The police nodded and asked, “So tell me, what happened over here?”
“Here’s what happened.”
Hayden recounted the whole incident truthfully.
“I do not know the reason he asked me to meet at the hotel, I do not even know this hotel, umm… oh yes, I was the one who made the police report.”
“So, what is your relationship with the man who was beating up the victim?”
Hayden was slightly taken aback, “He…”
While she was still hesitating, there was a sound of knocking on the door and a slightly older police officer opened the door, “Hayden can leave.”
The officer responsible for interrogation looked surprised, “Sir, I have not finished taking my report notes.”
