“Alright, I’ll stop bothering the both of you.”
A sound was heard when the chair rubbed against the floor as Harrison stood up suddenly. He smiled and looked at Hayden.
“Hayden, do come to my place and play when you are free. I’ll arrange someone to handle things about the wedding. You can directly contact me if anything happens.”
In fact, Hayden had a lot to tell, but in that instance, she couldn’t say a word. She stared at Harrison’s back as he left, leaving her and Joseph staring at each other.
“I’ll send you back.”
After the dinner, Joseph took the initiative to send her home. Hayden was not willing to do so, but she wanted to clarify about what had happened today. She felt uneasy to talk about it when the servants were around and inside the car will be a good spot to talk about it. Hence, she did not reject his request.
As the car drove out of the mansion area, the atmosphere in the car still remained dull and boring.
Hayden lowered her head, staring at her handphone. She was swiping Weibo(micro-blog), but she did not focus on the content at all.
“Should I turn right at the next exit?”
Joseph’s voice suddenly came into her ears as he asked casually.
Hayden froze for a few seconds and then she nodded, “Yes.”
The car stopped in front of a red light before turning into the exit. The red light had 60 seconds left before it would turn green. Joseph’s slender fingers were gripping on the steering wheel, his right index finger was tapping on it unrhythmically.
Suddenly, he asked, “I have something to ask you about what had happened last night.”
Hayden felt like the touch was still lingering in her hands. He couldn’t help to compare her with the girl he met six years ago. The feeling was too familiar, which he could not forget till now.
“Last night.”
Hayden’s body turned stiff. She grasped her fingers and spoke stiffly, “There’s nothing to worry about last night.”
Joseph’s fingers stopped tapping on the wheel.
“Erm.” Hayden sniffed and pretended to be okay about it.
“We are drunk last night, and we are grown-ups now. Don’t take it too seriously. I also know that you are getting married with Viola, so you don’t need to feel uneasy about this. I, I wouldn’t want you to be responsible about anything, I’m not that kind of person.”
Joseph tightened his grip so hard that a hollow appeared on the leather cover of the wheel. His face was still expressionless, but his tone turned cold suddenly.
“Get out of the car.”
“What?”
“Didn’t you just said that you don’t need me to be responsible about anything? To avoid others from any misunderstanding, you can leave the car now.”
Anger could be slightly felt from his cold voice and his voice echoed in the car.
Hayden finally sobered up.
She held her bag and stood beside the road, watching Joseph’s car leaving without any hesitation. Finally, all the expression and attitude she disguised collapsed, she stopped pretending to be okay about it. She sat down in the corner of the flower bed like a deflated balloon.
Why were all these things happening?
…
“What? She stayed overnight in Imperial Villa?”
In the dressing room at the backstage of the show, Viola turned around suddenly to look at her assistant behind her. Her face was full of disbelief.
The make-up artist was also shocked by her sudden action and the lip brush on her hand slipped across Viola’s lips, leaving a long stretch of red lipstick mark on it. She immediately apologized, “Sorry, I didn’t mean it…”
Viola snatched the brush in the make-up artist’s hand and threw it roughly onto the ground. She scolded, “Where did you come from? You don’t even know how to do make-up, are you tired of your job?”
