"Don't be such a downer, girl. Good men are scarce, but they're out there. Cast a wide net, and you'll snag a keeper."
Wasn't that how Beverley landed her catch?
Those with roving eyes or ulterior motives got the boot, and then it was on to the next one.
With a playful smirk, Jelena ribbed, "You and Leopold have been on and off more times than I can count. Are you sure he's one of the good ones?"
Aurelia wasn't sure, but she was willing to roll the dice.
"Come on, Leopold is not one to play the field. Isn't he known in high society for keeping it classy?" Aurelia said.
Jelena's eyes gleamed with a hint of mischief, "He hasn't been with Megan?"
Aurelia choked, "No, of course not."
Jelena was skeptical. Months together and nothing? Seemed unlikely.
"You trust him that much?"
Aurelia coughed softly, "He's not an idiot. Why would he sleep with a woman who's trying to trap him? Megan's kid isn't his but someone else's."
Jelena clapped her on the shoulder, "Honey, don’t rust what men say. They're known for spinning yarns. Emotional attachment and physical needs are separate for them. They could still hit it off with someone they detest."
Aurelia massaged her temples, "Jelena, you're being too cynical. There are guys out there who value integrity. You can't judge all men by a few bad apples. Look at Fredric. Sure, he's a ladies' man, but isn't he trying to rein it in for you?"
Jelena snorted, "His self-improvement kick has a shelf life of three months at most."
