Leopold and Arnold, upon receiving the urgent news, hurried back home with the kids in tow.
"Aurelia, are you alright?" Leopold and Arnold asked in unison, with worry etching deep in their voices. They thoroughly checked Aurelia from head to toe to make sure she was unharmed before they could breathe a sigh of relief.
Aurelia asked Skyler to take the kids to another room to play, not wanting them to see Lisa in such a state.
Beverley was stunned as she looked at Lisa.
"Hey, what the heck happened to Lisa? She seemed fine, why would she suddenly try to off you?"
"I don't know." Aurelia shook her head, "She came over saying she wanted to invite me for a milkshake, then complained of being thirsty and asked for a glass of water. As I turned to get it, she pulled a knife on me."
Beverley slapped her forehead in realization, "I bet she was playing nice but secretly resented you all along, plotting to get rid of you."
Aurelia didn't share that opinion.
"I think there was something seriously off with Lisa today. She seemed to be out of her mind."
"Could it be a case of intermittent explosive disorder?"
Beverley glanced at Lisa again, who by now was utterly exhausted, drooping her head, hanging down her messy hair, and hiding her face. All that could be heard was her hoarse and weak voice buzzing like a mosquito, "I'm gonna kill you..."
Lisa kept repeating those words, hundreds of times without stopping.
Arnold grasped her chin and forcefully lifted her head.
Her once lovely face was now pale as a ghost, twisted in a frightful expression, her eyes hollow and lifeless, as if possessed.
He had never seen Lisa like this before. Describing it as a psychotic break seemed the only plausible explanation.
"Lisa, are you faking this whole charade?"
