Nina and Mira were gobsmacked, their eyes wide opened. "Is that for real?"
William spoke with a deliberate calm, "Tried and true. Once a couple of bullies were picking on a kid and nearly beat him to death. I stamped them with the Reaper's Stamp, and out of nowhere, they started wailing on each other so hard. Both ended up in the ICU and didn't make it. And this one time, a guy was beating up a woman, even pulled a knife, ready to kill her. I stamped him, and the moment he stepped outside, boom, hit by a big rig."
"Oh my god." Nina and Mira clapped their hands over their mouths, almost in unison. They thought this kind of stuff only happened in movies.
"I want the Reaper's Stamp too, how wicked cool!" Mira said, a spark of excitement in her voice.
"Count me in," Nina chimed in.
William sighed, "The Reaper's Stamp's a dud now. Truth is, Skyler got it from his brother Geoffrey. It wasn't Shadow Venom taking those people out, but was Geoffrey's goons. They've been shadowing Skyler the whole time, even planted a chip on him. So no matter what he did or where he went, they were clued in."
"What?"
Nina and Mira were stunned, yet again. The truth could be harsh. Once you peeled away the mystery and the thrill, all the magic just vanished.
When you were a kid, your head was crammed with all these fantasies, wishing stories from comics, animations, and fairy tales could come to life. But as you grew up, you realized there were no fairy tales in this world, just the brutal reality.
Skyler said, "You know, fighting fire with fire ain't right. If you come across something illegal, you should gather evidence and turn them over to the cops. Only if the law can't touch the bad guys, should we step in to take them down."
"If the law's got gaps, we fix it, make it more just and fair. In Veritalia, there's nothing the Stirling family can't do." Kane added. The Stirling Group is a powerhouse, wealthy beyond measure, and gets respects all over the world. The Stirling family even controls the global financial markets. Why else would Geoffrey be so keen on taking the reins of the Stirling family?
