Chapter 120
Aurelia was stunned, feeling as if she were listening to a chilling thriller novel.
The big boss was suffering from an aftereffect?
He seemed fit as a fiddle, perfectly healthy?
“What kind of aftereffect?”
Elowen leaned in close to her ear, whispering, “The toxins lingered in his reproductive system, so he can’t produce healthy offspring anymore. The sperm used for the artificial insemination is from before his trip to the Amazon, the only healthy batch.”
Aurelia’s nerves tightened, not only in shock but also in unprecedented fear.
The babies in her belly were the big boss‘ only children now?
No wonder he could confidently say he wouldn’t have another child!
If her pregnancy secret leaked out, wouldn’t her life be in danger?
“Did they catch the culprit?”
Elowen shook her head. “The killer jumped into the Amazon River and was bitten to death by an alligator. As for the puppet master, Uncle Chad stopped the investigation, so no one knows who it is till now.”
Aurelia’s expression subtly changed.
Mr. Chad stopped the investigation? Was he trying to protect someone?
Couldn’t be Arno, could it?
She didn’t dare to think further.
Arno was so gentle, so kind, and she couldn’t relate him to a murderer!
Elowen looked at her, chuckling, “I know what you’re thinking, you’re wondering if the person who had Leopold assassinated, could it be Arnold?”
Aurelia gave a sheepish smile, “I don’t think Arno would do such a thing.”
Elowen snorted, “When Leopold had his accident, the first person to be suspected was naturally him, even though he was on a trip to Willowbrook at the time, but they found his watch in the killer’s pocket.”
Aurelia was slightly shocked, she met Arno on a trip in Willowbrook.
“If Arno hired the killer, wouldn’t it be too obvious? Maybe someone was trying to frame him, kill two birds with one stone.”
Based on her experience from watching fifty detective dramas, the more obvious the suspect, the less likely he’s the killer.
Elowen took a sip of her beer, “Uncle Chad also said the same thing. He doesn’t believe his own sons would kill each other. But my mom said, the killer must be one of the three cousins, if not Arnold, then it’s the eldest or second brother. Neither of them are angels.”
Aurelia swirled her juice in her hand, thought “Half–brothers usually have competitive relationships, there’s not much affection to speak of. It’s all the playboy’s fault. Mr. Chad is a total scumbag.”
Aurelia kept saying, “I think, with the Stirling family being so complicated, only you can help the big boss hold the fort. After all, you’re a cousin, they won’t openly fight with you, but for outsiders like Evelyn, who knows?”
Elowen was pleased by these words, “You’re absolutely right, but Leopold is just blinded by that vixen from the Alcott family.”
