Lisbeth could tell that Agent A didn't trust her, always on guard around her. But with the bodyguards keeping a tight watch outside, not letting anyone contact him, he would inevitably grow restless. She had to make him realize that she was his only link to the outside world.
Arnold was back. In an accident during a rock climbing shoot, he injured his leg. Aurelia quickly took William to visit him.
"Daddy, does your leg hurt?" William's tears fell like pearls off a string, nonstop.
"It's okay, buddy. I just need to rest in bed for a while, so no baseball for me," Arnold stroked his head. "Did Leopold pick on you while I was gone?"
"Yeah." William nodded. "I don't like Uncle Leopold. He's a meanie."
Arnold caressed his cheek, "From now on, Daddy's got your back. No one's allowed to bully my boy."
Aurelia sighed quietly to herself. She worried that Leopold might up his game, potentially scarring the child's tender heart even more. It would only make it harder for William and Leopold to bond.
"Arnold, I made you some nutritious soup, it's good for the bones. Let me get you a bowl."
"Thanks," Arnold nodded. He loved Aurelia, yet he knew she wouldn't come back to him. He could only leave Elysium and throw himself into work to heal.
Aurelia served a bowl of soup, placing it on a tray.
"You've got to be more careful. Let your assistant handle the risky stuff."
Arnold knew she still cared, which warmed his heart.
"It was just a freak accident. I'll be more cautious, don't worry."
William piped up, "Dad, I'll come to keep you company every day. That way, you won't be bored lying in bed."
Arnold smiled fondly at his son.
William was his little ray of sunshine, so good and understanding.
