Agent A's face was in shifting shades of discomfort. "Don't push me too far," he hissed. "Not only did you poison me, aiming to cripple me for life, but now you're trying to smear my good name. Are you hell-bent on wiping me out?"
Aurelia let out a mocking chuckle. "Oh, cut the act. Sure, you've had the work done to look like Raines, but becoming him is another story. It's no walk in the park to mimic a man's every mannerism and habit."
At the corner of his mouth, a spasm flickered across Anderson, a last-ditch struggle for survival.
"What proof do you have that I'm not Raines?" he demanded.
Aurelia's gaze turned ice-cold. "Proof? I don't need proof. I say you're not him, and that's that. In the Stirling family, my word is law."
Agent A flared his anger. "I demand to see the elders of the Stirling family. Christmas is just around the corner, and they would come to check on me. You can't just play god here."
"I'm here to offer you a chance at redemption," Aurelia said. "Spill where Raines is held captive, and I'll hand you the antidote."
Aware he could no longer bluff his way through, Agent A retorted, "Do you think I'm a fool? If I spill the beans, do you think I'd be left breathing?"
"Only by coming clean can you hope to survive. Keep silent, and you're as good as dead. You have a chance to turn over a new leaf. Help us rescue Raines, and you get the antidote, plus protection."
"You think I'd trust you?" Agent A scoffed.
"You've got no other choice but to trust me. The AK Group won't come for you. They know when to cut their losses."
Agent A gritted his teeth. "I don't know where Raines is. Only the boss knows."
"Then, you're of no use. Might as well wait for the reaper here," Aurelia stated coldly before turning to leave.
A sudden fear gripped Agent A. "Wait, give me some time to think."
"I'll come back later," Aurelia said, exiting the room.
