Chapter 122
“You sure know how to keep me awake,” she chuckled awkwardly, heading into the room to change into a loose–fitting sweatshirt.
Settling into the couch, she nibbled on an apple slice.
Pregnant women need plenty of fruits, to give their babies balanced nutrition.
“Mr. Leopold, are you being too harsh on poor Elowen? Each time she comes over, you’re nowhere to be found. She’s not just your fiancée, but also your nominal cousin, you two practically grew up together. There should be a close bond, if not love, then family ties at least.”
Leopold shot her a dark look, “Sympathizing with her, are you?”
Aurelia shrugged, “Just womanly empathy. Her love for you is crystal clear to anyone who sees it.”
Leopold stuffed another apple slice into her mouth, effectively silencing her prattling, “Enough with the needless compassion.”
Aurelia suspected that Leopold subconsciously equated Evelyn with Megan.
Clearly, Evelyn was striving hard to replace her sister, right down to the way she dressed and did her makeup, mirroring Megan.
“Do you plan on breaking off your engagement with Elowen?” She asked, chewing her apple, her voice muffled.
Was it for Evelyn?
Was he going to risk it all for a woman?
Leopold leaned in slightly, his handsome face coming closer, his eyes glinting mysteriously in the light, “Do you want me to break it off with Elowen?”
She stroked her belly, “Depends on who you’re doing it for.”
“And who do you hope it’s for?” Leopold’s lips curled into a wicked smirk.
“Of course, I’d hope it’s for the children, to find them a kind–hearted, gentle stepmother. But if it’s for some gold–digger, then forget it,” she said frankly.
Leopold raised an eyebrow, “Which gold–digger?”
She rolled her eyes, who else but Evelyn?
“Do you have a lot of gold–diggers around you?”
A sharp, icy glint flashed across Leopold’s eyes.
No gold–diggers, just one manipulative diamond digger.
“If I break off the engagement with Elowen, would you fight for your chance?”
“No need,” she shook her head emphatically, “I wouldn’t dare aspire to that, besides, you’re not my type, too hard to handle.”
He was cold and domineering. If she were to marry him, she would probably end up with depression.

Her straightforward rejection, without a moment’s hesitation, stirred up a quiet anger in Leopold.
“Who’s your type, Arnold?”
“Well, I can’t handle him either, so we remain good friends,” Aurelia made a face.

Leopold squinted slightly, his eyes giving off a chill that was rather intimidating, “What’s your type?”
Aurelia batted her long eyelashes, a mischievous glint in her eyes, “Someone gentle and considerate, who always agrees with me. He’d listen to me. If I tell him to go west, he’d never head east.”
Leopold choked on his words.
Did she prefer a henpecked husband?
“You have unique taste.”
“I don’t love men who aren’t obedient,” Aurelia stuck out her tongue, grinning cheekily.
