"It should be fine for now. They've got her isolated, and there's definitely some other scheme brewing," Aurelia mused with a hint of thoughtfulness.
"What else could they possibly want?" Lisbeth asked.
Aurelia's lips curled into a sneer, "As long as Geoffrey remains at large, they won't stop stirring the pot."
Lisbeth frowned slightly, well aware of how relentless AK Group could be. They were like cockroaches, creeping into every nook and cranny, and with just one person left, they could spawn a whole network of underlings.
"Agent A is still useful. Have him keep digging."
"Okay," Aurelia nodded.
Lisbeth placed a hand on her slightly swollen belly, "Do you think I should tell Raines about the pregnancy?"
That was something Aurelia couldn't advise on, and it was for Lisbeth to decide.
"That's up to you. If you want to tell him, go ahead. Consider it a New Year's gift."
Lisbeth nodded in agreement.
Aurelia headed inside the house, where Leopold greeted her and settled beside her on the sofa, "Worried about Lisbeth and Raines?"
Aurelia shrugged, "Raines has amnesia, but it's odd. He remembers everyone else but not Lisbeth. What's that all about?"
Leopold took a sip of his tea and said gravely, "Maybe the truth was too much for him, and he's chosen to forget selectively."
Aurelia sighed, unsure whether it would be better for Raines to regain his memory or continue with his amnesia.
"What should Lisbeth do if Raines can't forgive her?"
Leopold sipped his tea delicately, "We can't meddle in their emotional affairs. They'll have to work it out themselves."
As midnight approached, everyone gathered by the lakeside, awaiting the New Year's fireworks.
Aurelia noticed Harriet sitting next to Charles in silence as if they'd had a falling out.
