Chapter 134
Leopold’s gaze fell onto her lips. They were as luscious and inviting as the petals of a rose at daybreak.
There was a brief flicker of distraction in his eyes before it was replaced by a cold determination. “Keep your guard up until we get to the bottom of this,” he warned her.
“Okay.” She nodded in response.
Walking back into her office, she caught a few members of Evelyn’s team craning their necks to get a look at her. They probably assumed she had been reprimanded by the boss or had been given the sack.
Without batting an eyelid, she silently returned to her seat.
Unable to contain herself, Emma snidely remarked, “Aurelia, everyone in the company is saying that you and Ms. Elowen conspired against Evelyn. Don’t you think you owe us an explanation? How are we supposed to work with you if you don’t clear your name?”
Aurelia remained calm, replying coolly, “The rumors are completely false. I’ve got nothing to explain. Once everything is sorted out, the rumors will disperse soon.”
Emma frowned, ment*lly commending Aurelia’s impressive composure.
“Let’s hope you’re innocent. It would be a shame to watch your team go down in flames,” she added, a sense of smugness creeping into her voice.
That comment made Jenny bristle. “Don’t get too cocky just yet. We’ll see who ends up in the dust,” she
retorted.
“The entire company is rooting for our design, even the regional president thinks we have the upper hand. They’re even considering giving us the prime ad space. You guys better get ready for a good cry.”
Emma’s confidence was palpable. She was certain victory was within her grasp.
Aurelia noted Emma’s last comment. It seemed they were already vying for the advertising space.
Mr. Harry was also trying to secure the best ad space. He was determined to book the most prominent locations in the high–end Elysium shopping centers.
Arnold was right. If the sales of the headquarters surpassed ‘Eternal Love‘, the regional office would naturally shift their focus to the ‘Destiny‘ series.
“I’ll say this one more time: words mean nothing, sales do. Let’s all focus on our work and not get distracted by unrelated matters.”
Emma snorted, muttering something under her breath. Her voice was too low for anyone else to hear, so they ignored her.
At lunchtime, Aurelia received a WhatsApp message from her younger brother Avery. He was back in Elysium.
He had finished filming for the week and was heading back to school. Additionally, his agent, Nydia, had booked him a reality show gig that was set to start filming over the weekend.
Aurelia immediately called Arnold and asked him to have dinner with her.
She booked a private room at a local American diner and sent the address to Avery.
After work, she headed straight there.
Avery and Arnold arrived shortly after.
Upon seeing his sister, Avery teased, “You’re so stunning, Sis. It’s a shame you’re not an actress.”
Moreover, her acting skills were top–notch, even though she had no formal training.
Aurelia shot him a sidelong glance, “I’m shining bright in the jewelry world. Why would I want to be an actress?”
Even though she wasn’t an actress, she often found herself putting on a performance.
Life, after all, is a stage.
