Chapter 144
With a gentle tap of her finger, Aurelia played the video she’d filmed earlier, “If you dare to mess with Avery again, I’ll post this on the internet immediately. Your career will be over before it’s even begun.”
Evan was furious yet terrified, “You guys are ruthless. We’ll see about this.”
He stomped out of the dressing room, desperate to find reinforcements before the video could be leaked.
Arnold put an arm around Avery, “Don’t let that jerk get to you. He knows he isn’t as good as you, that’s why he’s trying to provoke you, hoping you’ll mess up.”
“You’re right, Arno!” Aurelia agreed, “You need to show him you’re better, make him regret ever crossing you!” Avery wasn’t a fragile person, he’d faced life and death situations and had grown much stronger.
“Don’t worry, I’m fine. Beating Evan is my top priority right now.”
The recording of the show was about to start.
Aurelia and Arnold took their seats in the audience.
The first episode was a solo performance by the newcomers. Each contestant spun a wheel to choose their performance theme, then gave an impromptu performance for two minutes. The mentors then made their selections.
Those not chosen by a mentor would go to a holding area. If chosen by multiple mentors, they would get to choose their mentor.
Among the rising stars, Mia and Eaton were the most popular. They had been internet celebrities and already had a fan base.
Both Avery and Evan received approval from all four mentors.
Avery chose director Edmond from Serenity Films, while Evan, naturally, opted for director Kemp from Luminous Vision Media.
Evan’s acting was, in Aurelia’s opinion, awkward!
But he was under Luminous Vision Media and was Louisa’s protegé, so the directors would definitely be lenient.
After the recording ended, Aurelia and Arnold were about to go backstage to find Avery when Louisa appeared.
“Mr. Arnold, Ms. Aurelia, can we talk?”
Aurelia knew what Louisa wanted to discuss. Evan must have told her about the video.
She pulled out her phone and played the video.
“Ms. Louisa, you’re known for your keen eye and good judgment. Did you make a mistake this time? How could you sign someone so appalling? He not only lacks respect for his peers but also intentionally humiliates and ridicules them. Where is his professional ethics?”
Louisa’s face twitched. She didn’t want to mentor Evan, neither his looks nor his talent met her standards. But his father was close with the deputy general manager, who hoped she would train Evan. She couldn’t refuse his request.
“Evan said Avery bullied him in school and that’s why he was a bit aggressive in front of Avery. If this issue escalates, it won’t be good for Avery either.” Louisa said.
