Chapter 163
He made a circuit around the place, failing to spot a trace of Aurelia. His frustration mounting, he ordered Kevin to find Aurelia without delay.
Shortly, Kevin called back, “Mr. Leopold, Ms. Aurelia has left early with her little brother.”
Leopold’s mouth tightened at the corners. “Arrange a car for me immediately; I need to get back to Rosewood Manor.”
Meanwhile, Aurelia and her brother were already on their way back, sitting on the subway.
Aurelia’s cell phone rang; it was her mom, Jolin. “Sweetie, why didn’t you tell me you were ill?”
She drew a sharp breath, “I’m not ill, mom. I’m fine.”
“You’re not married yet, and having fibroids could seriously affect your health and your ability to have kids in the future,” Jolin warned.
Aurelia felt herself speechless. That big mouth Avery had secretly snitched on her!
“I’m already on medication.”
“I’ve just booked a train ticket. I’ll be there tomorrow afternoon. We’ll go to the hospital and have you properly checked out.”
“Mom, there’s really no need…”
Before she could finish, Jolin cut her off. “The ticket’s already booked. Remember to pick me up tomorrow.”
Aurelia was left reeling after the call. Angrily, she smacked Avery’s head. “Why did you tell mom about my condition? Now she’s in a panic and coming over.”
If her mom discovered that she wasn’t suffering from fibroids but was pregnant, she’d be in deep trouble.
Avery pulled a face. “I was just worried about you. Mom knows more about women’s health issues.”
Aurelia rubbed her forehead.
This was so messed up!
“Forget it, I’ll stay at your apartment tonight. We’ll pick up mom together tomorrow.”
Avery nodded. “Sounds good. I live alone, so it’s easier than your place with all those roommates.”
Leopold returned to his apartment, only to find no sign of Aurelia.
“Hasn’t Aurelia come back?”
“She did, just to pick up some fresh clothes. Said she’s staying at Avery’s tonight,” Laura answered.
His brow furrowed slightly. Was she doing this on purpose?
“Inform me the moment she returns tomorrow.”
Laura picked up on the subtle change in his demeanor. “Sir, you didn’t argue with Ms. Aurelia, did you?” “No.” He responded tersely, his eyebrows knitting together.
“Well, that’s good.” Laura smiled, “Women can become rather sensitive and emotionally unstable during pregnancy. You’ll need to be patient.”
“I understand.”
His face was gloomy, and he felt an inexplicable irritability.
The next day, Leah drove Aurelia and Avery to the train station to pick up Jolin.
Aurelia had already made arrangements. Her mom would stay at Avery’s apartment for the time being. While Avery was filming, she’d keep her company.
“Mom, can dad manage the shop alone without you?”
Aurelia handed her a bottle of juice. After their parents were laid off, they had opened a small shop to support the family.
Jolin smiled, “Don’t worry. I’ve asked your aunt to help him.”
